Wind gusts estimated at 65 to 70 mph caused damage in Marion County. In Centralia trees and power lines were downed blocking several roads. Several cars were also damaged by downed trees and broken limbs. The situation in Salem was similar. Numerous trees and power lines were downed, and the roof at the Salem Fire Protection District building was damaged. Over 1500 hundred customers of Illinois Power were without electricity through the next morning. At one point, the entire town of Odin was without power.
