The remnants of Mitch made landfall between Ft. Myers and Naples around 7:00 a.m. EST on November 5th and rapidly moved northeast across South Florida to a position north of Jupiter by 10:00 a.m. EST on the 5th.Tropical Storm Mitch spread moderate to heavy rain, along with occasional low-end, tropical storm force wind gusts, across parts of Southwest and West Central Florida over a 24 hour period. The bulk of the heavy rain and tropical storm force wind occurred two to three hundred miles east of the track of Mitch. The heaviest rains occurred in Lee, Charlotte and De Soto counties where five to six inches of rain fell in less than 30 hours.
