A persistent west to northwest flow of moist air produced heavy snow in some northern and central mountain areas of western Colorado. Snowfall ranged from 8 to 13 inches below the 8000 foot level and 10 to 20 inches at higher elevations. The largest reported snow total was 22 inches in the mountains near Steamboat Springs. Wind gusts of 20 to 40 MPH resulted in areas of blowing and drifting snow.
