Power lines and power poles downed across parts of Imperial and Niland. Numerous roofs were damaged. At least one billboard was toppled along Highway 86 south of town, and The Movies marquee was shattered. California Highway Patrol investigated a storm-related seven car pileup which occurred between 345 and 348 pm on Highway 111 just south of Aten Road. Some streets were flooded with about an inch /.98/ reported at Imperial. Dense blowing dust reduced visibility to less than 1/8 mile before the heavy rain began.
