Heavy rainfall from Hurricane Georges was estimated between fifteen and twenty-seven inches across the county. The heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding throughout the county. Most of the roads throughout the county had to be closed for several hours because of high water. Schools were closed for three days because of washouts of many secondary roads in the county. The heavy rains caused the Conecuh River near River Falls to rise to 46.4 feet on September 29. This was well below the record of 52.5 feet in March of 1929.
