Low temperatures were in the single digits or below zero across Northwest Pennsylvania, causing numerous water pipes to freeze and break. With wind chills of 40 to 50 below zero, many schools were forced to close. In Jamestown (Crawford County), the temperature was minus 15 on the 19th. Union City (Erie) had a low of minus 16 on the 19th and Corry (Erie) reported a low temperature of minus 18 on the 19th. Titusville (Crawford) had a low of minus 15 on the 19th and minus 14 on the 20th.
