A slow moving thunderstorm dumped several inches of rain in a short time west of Franklin flooding at least one creek and closing the Old Murphy Road for a time. A severe storm near the Tennessee border caused large hail at the police station in Hot Springs. A downburst blew over a mobile home near the Iredell county border in Alexander county, injuring the two elderly people inside. Trees and power lines were downed over a small area and another mobile home was damaged
