A coastal storm developed off the Carolina Coast during Saturday morning, November 1st. It moved north and passed over the Delaware Coast around 3 pm and over the local area during the evening.The storm brought strong gusty winds and rain to the area.East winds increased to 20 to 30 mph with gusts from 40 to 45 mph during the afternoon. The highest wind gust was 44 mph at West Orange (Essex County). Strong gusty winds combined with rain and downed scattered tree limbs, trees, and power lines. An 85-foot oak tree fell and damaged 3 fences and a house deck on Franklin Road in Englewood (Bergen County).Rainfall amounts ranged from 0.82 inches at Newark Airport to 1.83 inches at West Orange (Essex County).
