Strong wind blew through south central Nebraska the night of October 8. Sustained wind speeds of 30 to 50 mph were common throughout the night. Numerous locations reported wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. Sporadic damage was reported in the area due to the prolonged high winds. A hog confinement facility was destroyed near Loup City and a barn blown over near Alma. Some power loss was noted, mainly due to damaged tree limbs falling on power lines.
