High Wind in Alaska, January 26 to 27, 1997
A moderate 967mb low moved northwest through the Gulf of Alaska toward Kodiak where it began to weaken early Tuesday. Easterly wind gusts to the north and northeast of the low reached close to 60 mph just offshore from Prince William Sound Monday.

A moderate 967mb low moved northwest through the Gulf of Alaska toward Kodiak where it began to weaken early Tuesday. Easterly wind gusts to the north and northeast of the low reached close to 60 mph just offshore from Prince William Sound Monday. The storm also caused 10 inches of new snow at Kodiak, a record for the date.
