During Saturday, September 28, 1996 strong winds buffeted portions of Vermont. The winds preceded and accompanied a cold front which moved into New England late Saturday night. The period of strongest winds was during the morning and afternoon hours.In Jericho, VT (Chittenden County) winds reached 51 knots and a car was "blown off of Lee River Road".Tree limbs and power lines were snapped with power outages in the Vermont locations of Underhill, Burlington, Winooski, Charlotte and Colchester. A peak wind of 41 knots was reported at the NWS office at Burlington Airport.
