Thunderstorms moved across Mahaska County during the early morning hours. Lightning caused damage at a radio station in Oskaloosa when it was affected by a power surge. A nearby motel was damaged when a fire was started by a lightning strike. The damage was relatively minor, but was still in the tens of thousands of dollars.
