1900, January 14. Disastrous earthquake on the southern slopes of Mount Gede. Serious damage in the town of Soekaboemi atid its surroundings, particularly along all important fracture from Kararig Teiigah to Tjibeber. The volcano Gede showed increased activity. (Nat. 1900, January 14. Intensity VII. Sukabumi: West Java - felt over Priangan, Bogor and Banten. Most damage to stone houses occurred at Sukabumi, but no lives were lost. (reference #1188)
