Another strong event hit the Camerino area in July 1799 (Mw 6.2), at the climax of an earthquake sequence that lasted several months, causing the collapse of almost all the churches in the town, severe though repairable damage to public buildings and to almost all the private houses, the deaths of 42 persons, and macroseismic effects of 8–9 MCS (Monachesi et al., 2016).
