.SYNOPSIS...
A front will remain stalled across the area into Wednesday. This
front will move back to the north as a warm front Thursday night
before a stronger cold front moves through the region on Friday.
High pressure will build in from the west over the weekend
before weakening early next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Latest analysis currently shows a frontal boundary slipping
southeastward across northern New Jersey and eastern
Pennsylvania. The front extends west-southwest into the Ohio
Valley, where a weak wave of low pressure is riding eastward
along the front. Aloft, a shortwave is crossing the
Appalachians. A relatively modest but notable low-level jet is
pushing eastward across West Virginia.

These features will result in increasing clouds early this
morning, with showers and embedded thunderstorms breaking out
across the area. With minimal SBCAPE, forcing is mostly aloft,
so expect a relatively minimal severe weather threat this
morning, but locally heavy rain may result in flooding concerns
if heavier cells move across urban centers. Best concentration
of rain this morning appears to be near Philadelphia into
central NJ, with moisture having trouble getting further north
as the front dropping southward stalls out. As the initial
shortwave and low-level jet head east off the coast by this
afternoon, a break may be had, but CAMS then indicate enough
SBCAPE develops to cause more showers and thunderstorms this
afternoon. These likely have a better, if still marginal, severe
weather risk, but will also continue to carry a locally heavy
rain risk, particularly if they move over urban centers. With
the front stalled in north-central areas of the CWA, the main
risk of storms this afternoon will also be from I-78 southward,
with NW NJ and the Poconos quite possibly staying dry today.
With better model agreement, upped pops to likely thru the day,
though again, it won't be a washout... expect the first wave
this morning then more activity this afternoon with dry time in
between. However, with the better chance of rain and greater
cloud cover, highs now look lower than previously, with low-mid
80s more common.

Tonight, with all forcing heading out to sea or weakening after
sunset, expect all showers and storms to end fairly quickly.
Areas of fog may then become a concern overnight especially
where it rains significantly during the day. Lows will be in the
60s to low 70s.

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/...
The area will be in a lull to start the period Thursday morning as
weak high pressure will be over the region. Main threat at this time
will be any left over fog but any of this will burn off through the
morning. Otherwise the day should feature a mix of sun and clouds
with very warm but somewhat less humid conditions compared to many
of our recent days. Expect highs mainly in the 80s to near 90 with
dew points generally in the middle to upper 60s (compared to low to
mid 70s). The weak high over the area early in the day will give way
to the next approaching system by late day as a developing low
pressure system and associated upper level wave move eastward across
the lower Great Lakes. Some scattered showers and storms look to
develop by the afternoon over central and western PA in the vicinity
of this system's warm front and some of these could make it into our
eastern PA and Delmarva zones by late day. However the trend has
been slightly slower with this system so POPs are only in the 20 to
40 percent range here and less than 15 percent near the NJ coast
where it should stay dry through the day.

The more active period looks to be Thursday night beginning after
sundown as the aformentioned low continues moving across
southern Ontario pushing a warm front through the region. This
low will be driven by a fairly potent wave in the upper levels
that will start to take on a more neutral to negative tilt with
an 80 knot jet moving through the base of the upper trough. This
set up is at least somewhat concerning as it indicates forcing
should be quite strong. And moisture won't be an issue as PWATs
in the warm sector surge once again to around 1.75 to 2 inches.
The upshot is that showers and thunderstorms should become
fairly widespread across the area through the late evening into
the overnight and will have the potential to produce very heavy
downpours that could lead to flooding and even flash flooding.
Best chances for this look to be near and N/W of the urban
corridor. Some severe weather may be possible but the limiting
factors here are that deep layer shear may be fairly marginal at
30 to 35 knots with surface instability potentially being
limited to due to the timing at night. That said, the strong
forcing could compensate so this is definitely a system that
will bear watching. Expect lows mainly in the 60s to near 70.

For Friday, the area will be right near the triple point to start
the day with the low centered over the area. Showers/storms should
still be ongoing at this time but should actually become less
widespread by late morning into the afternoon as the strongest
forcing and deepest moisture moves off to the north and east. That
said, the actual surface low and associated cold front may be slow
to move through so there will be the potential for at least some
scattered storms through the day even as some sunny breaks start to
develop. Best chances for storms look to be over NE PA into NW NJ
with the lowest POPs across Delmarva. Expect highs generally in the
mid to upper 80s along with high humidity although dew point should
start to drop off by late day as the winds turn more westerly in the
wake of the cold front.

Any lingering showers/storms diminish Friday evening as the low
pulls away with a somewhat cooler and less humid night in its wake
under clearing skies and west to NW breezes. Lows should be mainly
in the 60s with even some upper 50s over the southern Poconos.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
There will be a respite this weekend from this very muggy and active
weather pattern we've been in as the front from Friday continues to
move off the coast and surface high pressure moves in. This looks to
be bring us a dry weekend for once under partly to mainly sunny
skies with seasonable temperatures and less humid conditions. Expect
highs both days this weekend generally in the 80s except upper 70s
over the Pocono Plateau. Lows look to be mainly in the 60s.

Despite the respite over the weekend, the overall weather pattern
will continue to feature a dominant long wave trough in the east and
this set up will result in a return to muggier weather by early next
week along with chances for showers/storms returning as well. This
will occur as the surface high loses its grip over the area and the
flow starts to turn more southerly. Highs by next Monday and Tuesday
will once again reach well into the 80s to around 90 for much of the
area with lows mainly ranging from the mid 60s to low 70s.

.AVIATION /07Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas...

Today...VFR predominately, but intervals of MVFR and instances
of IFR possible with heavier showers and thunderstorms moving
across the terminals this morning and again this afternoon. Best
chance of restriction is from KTTN southward...lesser risk at
KRDG and KABE. Winds will be somewhat variable with a front in
the vicinity.

Tonight...IFR possible mainly late and especially south of KTTN
where fog may develop overnight. Winds variable becoming
northerly at 5 kts or less.

Outlook...

Thursday...Mainly VFR through the daytime with a few isolated to
scattered showers/storms possible that could cause brief
restrictions...best chances for this at RDG and ABE. Winds east to
southeast then becoming more southerly late day at speeds of around
5 to 10 knots. Moderate confidence.

Thursday night...Showers and thunderstorms become more widespread as
a frontal system moves in with restrictions to MVFR or IFR likely.
Winds south to southeast around 5 knots with higher gusts possible
in storms.

Friday...Showers/storms becoming more isolated to scattered with
conditions becoming mainly VFR by late morning through the
afternoon. Winds shifting to westerly around 10 knots as a cold
front moves through.

Saturday and Sunday...VFR. Northwest winds around 10 knots. Moderate
confidence.

.MARINE...
Sub-advisory conditions on the waters through tonight with winds
southwesterly this morning around 5 kts increasing to around 10
kts from the southeast this afternoon, then turning northerly by
late tonight. Waves 2-4 ft. Main boating hazard will be
potential for scattered thunderstorms, possibly this morning and
then again this afternoon into this evening. Patchy marine fog
is possible as well.

Outlook...

Thursday through Sunday...No marine headlines expected. Winds
generally around 10 knots with seas of 2 to 4 feet. Showers/storms
likely over the waters at times Thursday night into Friday with
tranquil weather over the weekend.

Rip Currents...

A light northwest to west wind this morning is forecast to
become southerly around 10 MPH in the afternoon. Breaking waves
should be 2 to 4 feet with a medium period southerly swell.
There should still be an underlying long period swell from the
east and southeast. However, with breaking wave heights on the
decrease, we will carry a MODERATE risk for New Jersey and a LOW
risk for Delaware for rip currents on Wednesday.

For Thursday, south to southeast winds will are forecast to be a
bit lighter with a further diminishing longer period swell.
Therefor, we are expecting a LOW risk of rip currents for all
New Jersey and Delaware Beaches on Thursday.
