.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure will slowly pass eastward to our north today and
Wednesday, pushing a cold front through our region tonight. High
pressure will briefly dominate Thursday. Another frontal
boundary will move into the region and become nearly stationary
for the upcoming weekend.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
1050 AM...Rain continues to fall mainly over our NJ counties
into extreme eastern parts of PA. This is in association with a
weak wave that's formed near the NJ coast and thankfully this
rain hasn't been too heavy over the past few hours as it's been
mostly stratiform. This batch of precip should move out west to
east over the next couple hours. However there is some clearing
developing to our west with instability already starting to grow
so we still have concerns for more storms later that could
produce some more severe weather in addition to Flash Flooding.
Forecast was updated to account for recent radar trends and
temperatures through midday but otherwise no changes. Previous
discussion follows below.
With the upper trough and surface front moving into the antecedent
very moist and warm air mass, showers and storms will start
redeveloping towards noon and become widespread this afternoon,
especially away from the coast. Widespread rains yesterday and last
night combined with lingering clouds will likely put a damper in
available instability, while shear and helicity is not as pronounced
today either. Thus, do not expect today to be AS active as yesterday
and last night, but at least some isolated flash flood warnings and
severe thunderstorm warnings can't be ruled out.
The flood watch has recently been expanded a step to the east
across the Delaware River to include Western Monmouth, Northwest
Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties of NJ. We expect 1 to
2 inches of rain in these areas this afternoon with some local 3
inch totals possible. Yesterdays rains have produced wet soils
in these areas already.
Frontal passage should put a more pronounced end to activity
tonight, so after a day with highs mostly in the low-mid 80s, expect
lows to drop into the 60s. Patchy fog may develop where clouds break
and winds become light.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
Upper level trough will pass overhead in the wake of the surface
front for Wednesday. With a drier air mass moving in and loss of
surface forcing, don't expect coverage like today's (and nothing
like yesterday's) but some isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms are still possible with the upper level cold core
during the afternoon. Otherwise, overall a cooler and less humid
day is expected, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and
dew points falling into the lower to mid 60s.
Drying will be more pronounced Wednesday night, with skies at
least partly clearing. Lows will drop into the upper 50s to
lower 60s.
A mostly dry day is expected for Thursday, though some slight
chance pops are included across northern areas where the upper
trough's effects will linger. Otherwise, it looks like the
quietest day of the forecast period, with dew points dropping
into the upper 50s accompanied by highs in the lower to mid 80s
under partly to mostly sunny skies.
Humidity starts to creep back up Thursday night, but otherwise
expect dry conditions to continue. Lows mostly in the low to mid
60s.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Frontal boundary will approach from the west Friday and then
looks to stall across the area for the weekend into early next
week. This will keep temps from getting too warm, while bringing
back the risk of showers and thunderstorms starting later
Friday. Two passing shortwaves over the weekend promise to bring
the best chance of rain during those days, with the front then
looking more likely to sink southward out of the area early in
the next work week. Highs will be in the 80s Friday as the
system starts moving in and again Monday as it departs. However,
cooler temperatures closer to 80 or even the high 70s look more
likely over the weekend as the clouds and precip chances
maximize.

Today and tonight...Still some periods of MVFR/IFR for the I-95
TAF sites and points north through midday and then there should
be a lull with VFR predominating for a time. However by mid/late
afternoon another round of shower/storms moves in and will bring
times of sub VFR restrictions through early this evening. IFR
visbys likely in heavier showers. SHRA/TSRA should dissipate
tonight with possible restrictions from mist overnight. Winds
mainly S/SW 5 to 10 knots today then diminishing tonight.

dangerous rip currents at the New Jersey and Delaware beaches.
We are anticipating a southerly wind of 10-15 mph with breaking
waves in the surf zone of 2-3 feet. The medium period
southeasterly swell will likely continue.
For Wednesday, a HIGH risk of rip currents may develop as winds
become more westerly.
