Widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected mainly across the southeastern half of the forecast area as Hurricane Idalia tracks across southeast Georgia. The greatest rainfall totals associated with Idalia will be across the far southeastern portion of the area where as much as 6-8 inches of rainfall with locally higher totals will lead to a potentially significant flooding threat. Additionally, wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible across the southeastern portion of the area as Idalia moves through, which may down trees and cause scattered power outages. Brief tornadoes will also be possible within the outer bands of Idalia across the far southeastern portion of the area. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday... Isolated thunderstorms are possible across portions of central Georgia Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon. Otherwise, no hazardous weather is expected at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not requested but spotters are encouraged to submit reports of severe weather through the web by going to weather.gov/atlanta.
