At 927 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Harper Tavern, or near Palmyra, moving northeast at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

unsecured objects.

.SYNOPSIS...
The front that has been lingering across Delmarva the past few days
will lift through the forecast area tonight into Monday morning. A
cold front is forecast to approach the region Monday afternoon,
settle across the area or just south of the area Monday night and
Tuesday, and dissipate in place on Wednesday. Another cold front
will arrive later Thursday, then stall over or just to our south and
east Friday through Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...
The stationary front that has been stalled out over portions of the
Delmarva Peninsula over the past few days is slowly lifting
northward across the area as it undergoes transition into a warm
front this afternoon and a surface low moves eastward over the
southern Great Lakes. While no drastic temperature gradient exists
over this front, dew points are climbing into the low to mid 70s
south of it. Convection has been much more suppressed today with the
lack of any shortwave, unlike this time yesterday as a wave of low
pressure moved along the front beneath a shortwave perturbation. The
warm front will lift north of the entire area tonight as weak WAA
continues to overtake the region. A cold front will trail the
surface low as it moves across the southern Great Lakes into Ontario
and Quebec tomorrow, eventually moving across Pennsylvania and
towards our region by tomorrow evening.
Highs may rise another degree or two through the rest of the
afternoon with mid to upper 80s for most of the region. High clouds
continue to spill over the region from convection west of the region
yesterday and last night. Low clouds this morning quickly burned off
as they transformed into a scattered cumulus field over most of the
forecast area. Best chances for any pop-ups will be mostly over
Delmarva and southeastern New Jersey along the weak sea breeze.
While winds have been light and mostly less than 10 mph, they have
been slightly more southwesterly compared to southeasterly
yesterday, thus, the sea breeze boundary hasn't been as pronounced
today. There are also many orphaned outflow boundaries remnant from
yesterday's myriad thunderstorm clusters that could collide and take
advantage of the 1000 to even nearly 3000 J/kg of SB CAPE over the
region. Highest instability is once again south of the front mostly
south of the I-195/I-76 corridors. Stronger thunderstorms are
forming to our southwest into western Maryland and northwestern
Virginia due to orographic lift and stronger low-level shear.
Hi-res guidance consensus depicts a few remnant showers and
thunderstorms lifting north and east across southeastern Pennsylvania
tonight as the front lifts north of the rest of the region. Best
chances for any appreciable rainfall will be mostly along and
northeast of I-78 but a few of these make it as far south as the
western Philadelphia suburbs and up to the Trenton area. A weak cap
will develop over the area tonight, so things should remain more
elevated should they persist long enough into the night to bring
impacts into are area. Lows tonight will stay pretty mild with the
rise of dew points, staying mostly in the low 70s.
Slightly warmer Monday with the front north of the area and highs in
the upper 80s south and east of I-95, low to mid 80s north of I-95.
The severe threat does increase tomorrow evening ahead of the cold
front with the SPC placing most of the area except the immediate
coast in a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms. Most of the
morning and early afternoon look on the quiet side as we sit in the
"warm sector" between the fronts. Convection looks to move into the
region from northwest to southeast, not arriving most likely until
after 2 to 4 pm. Some of the CAMs even bring thunderstorms in later
than this, but with decent instability, i.e. CAPEs potentially in
excess of 2000 J/kg, it won't take much forcing to get additional
thunderstorms going. Once we see how convection develops over the
Ohio Valley today, we should get a better idea on timing at finer
resolution than just late afternoon to evening Monday. Heavy rain
will be likely with these showers and thunderstorms as PWATs
surge past the 2 inch mark, potentially even nearing 2.25 to 2.5
inches, which would be nearing the 90th percentile to almost
record territory at IAD. Total forecast rainfall amounts Monday
into Monday night range from around 1.5 inches over the Poconos
and northern New Jersey to around half an inch over the urban
corridor to less than a quarter of an inch along the Delaware
Beaches and southern New Jersey shore.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...
The period likely starts with ongoing convection. As the cold front
pushes east and instability wanes, the second half of the overnight
appears relatively dry. Overnight lows will be at or slightly above
normal...mid 60s to lower/mid 70s across the urban corridor.
Tuesday will see a northwest mid-level flow. This will help dry
things out across much, if not all, of the region. The question is
how far does the Monday night cold front push south? If it gets hung
up across Delmarva, isolated afternoon convection would be possible.
The area will start to see some heat develop on Tuesday with the
urban corridor seeing temperatures climb to around 90.
Tuesday night look dry as the mid-level flow looks zonal and benign.
Lows will be similar to Monday night.
Wednesday itself looks dry as the mid-level flow remains zonal. As
we move into Wednesday night, both a mid-level trof and cold will
approach the Mid-Atlantic. As a result, PoPs have been included west
of the 95. Wednesday will see more heat with indices approaching 100
across our urban areas and coastal plain. Wednesday night looks
warm. Overnight lows might not drop below 80 across the warmest
parts of the city.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Thursday should be a rather interesting day across the area. Heat
and humidity will be at its apex with high temperatures in the mid
90s, and dewpoints in the 70s. This will result in heat indices in
the triple digits, mainly for areas east of the Fall Line.
Confidence is increasing in Heat Advisory criteria being met.
Additionally, an upper level trough will be swinging through the
upper Great Lakes region and into Ontario and Quebec. Some recent
trends amongst guidance have put the trough and associated surface
low a good bit further north as it lifts northeast. The surface
front will still swing through our area on Thursday, though the
stronger lift would be further north in this case. It does bear
watching, though I have kept the forecast rather similar, keeping
chc PoPs in for the afternoon and evening on Thursday as there
should be an abundance of moisture and instability in place for at
least some showers and thunderstorms to develop.
The cold front will bring some relief in terms of lower dewpoints,
but temperatures will remain in the 90s for most on Friday. The
front looks to potentially get hung up with flow aloft turning more
zonal. Friday does look dry overall and with dewpoints settling into
the 60s, it looks to be a decent end to the week.
The weekend could turn a bit unsettled as guidance is hinting at
another trough swinging by the our north. This could bring another
cold front our way, though uncertainty remains. As it stands right
now, both days look to feature rain chances, though too early to
tell on any hazardous impacts. Temperatures look to be above normal
as well, though with dewpoints staying manageable, heat indicies
should not be anything too extreme.

.AVIATION /00Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
Tonight...All TAF sites are currently VFR this evening with most
of the region dry. The main precipitation shield with the mid-
level wave is starting to fall apart as it heads east. This is
likely due to the fact that the wave is moving northeast (where
convection continues to initiate southeast of Buffalo, NY).
Overnight tonight, a piece of energy is forecast to break off
from the main wave and cross east/ northeast over the Lehigh
Valley. This will make KABE and KRDG the TAF sites the most
likely to observe thunder overnight, with most of the other TAF
sites precipitation free. Low-end VFR to MVFR with
scattered/broken CIGs around 2500 to 3000 feet is possible later
tonight. Moderate confidence.
Monday... Mostly VFR conditions after any morning stratus
quickly lifts. A surface cold front will approach the region in
the afternoon with showers and thunderstorms heading east. These
showers and thunderstorms will enter the Lehigh Valley between
20 and 22z and cross the I-95 corridor between 22 and 00z.

Sub-Small Craft Advisory conditions are expected through tonight and
into Monday morning. Southwesterly winds will increase through the
day ahead of a cold front that will move through the region into
Monday night, with gusts increasing from 25 to 30 knots after 2 pm.
A Small Craft Advisory goes into effect at 2 pm and remains in
effect through 8 am Tuesday. Seas will build from 2 to 3 feet to 3
to 5 feet into tomorrow evening.
