SOUTH CENTRAL CHESTER COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 615 PM EDT...
The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe
limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However gusty
winds are still possible with these thunderstorms.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for
northern Delaware...and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ 354 PM EDT Mon Jul 18 2022 .SYNOPSIS... A cold front will continue to approach from the west today. The cold front will stall Tuesday then it should dissipate on Wednesday. The next cold front approaches the region Thursday, then stalls just to our south and east Friday before weakening inland over the weekend. Another cold front may approach Saturday or Sunday. && .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/... A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of the forecast area through 10 pm. The main threats with this afternoon's/evening's convection will be damaging wind gusts and heavy rain. Moderate vertical shear will support organized clusters and semi-discrete supercell structures capable of damaging gusts and PWAT values in excess of 2.00" will help produce the heavy rain. Although individual cells are tracking to the NW at a pretty good clip, there is the potential for backbuilding causing repeated heavy rain. Synoptically, a mid-level low is forecast to track over the Saint Lawrence River Valley tonight. The feature is expected to pull a short wave trough toward our region from the west. The showers and thunderstorms will pass off the coast tonight as the axis of the mid-level short wave passes overhead. Tuesday will see a northwest mid-level flow. This will help dry things out across much, if not all, of the region. The question is how far does tonight's cold front push south? If it gets hung up across Delmarva, isolated afternoon convection would be possible. Temperatures tonight will be seasonable ranging from the mid 60s to mid 70s. Afternoon highs on Tuesday will range from the mid 80s to lower 90s. West to southwest tonight 5 to 10 mph and 10 to 15 mph tomorrow. && .SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... The main story for Wednesday and Thursday will be the heat. With persistent southwesterly flow, expect high temperatures to easily get into the 90s for most locations (aside from the higher terrain of the Poconos and NW NJ). That being said, there is little spread between the 50th and 90th percentiles in max temp guidance, but quite a bit of spread between the 10th and 50th percentiles - likely due to differences in how persistent cloud cover will be. Unfortunately, it will also be quite muggy both days, with dewpoints approaching or in the low 70s even during the day time hours. Assuming the high temperatures don't trend lower, I am concerned that we will see widespread heat index values above 100 both days, especially along and east of the fall line. With some uncertainty as to exactly how warm we will get, have held off on any head advisory or heat watch products at this point. && .LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/... Despite a cold front offshore Friday morning, the area will experience another hot day Friday with high temperatures reaching into the low to mid 90s. Models indicate a continued pattern of upper level low pressure to our north and ridging to our south through the end of the period. This pattern will allow for more above normal temperatures with humid conditions Saturday and Sunday across the region. Saturday and Sunday afternoon highs could again potentially reach the low to mid 90s for most areas. Some showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday through the Sunday morning timeframe as the next front approaches from the west and moves over the region. && .AVIATION /20Z MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas. Remainder of this afternoon...Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. Thunderstorms with heavy rain will restrict things to MVFR/IFR. Southwest winds 10 to 15 kts with gusts of 20 to 25 kts. Strong wind gusts in excess of 40 kts are possible with any thunderstorm. High confidence the region will see isolated/scattered thunderstorms with heavy rain this afternoon, but can't say with certainty if they will track over a specific terminal. Tonight...More numerous showers and thunderstorms this evening. Once again, the heavy rain will restrict things to MVFR/IFR. Strong wind gusts in excess of 40 kts are possible with any thunderstorm. At 531 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Farmington, or 9 miles northeast of Havre De Grace, moving east at 25
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Newark, Kennett Square, Oxford, West Grove, Glen Roy, Stanton, North
