FOR 18Z AVIATION DISCUSSION.

.DISCUSSION...

Did a quick update to the forecast to remove the early morning
warning. Also updated the pops and went close to the HRRR model as
it seems to have a good handle on the near term. The atmosphere
across middle TN is quite unstable with CAPE 2000 J/KG and LIs -6
or so. Current radar shows a line of showers and thunderstorms
extending from Portland to Greenbrier to Centerville. The CAMS
models picked up on the develop along I-65 this morning and have
most of everything moving east over the Plateau. With cloudy skies
afternoon high temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s and
around 80 southwest.

.AVIATION...
18Z TAF DISCUSSION.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue this afternoon
mainly for KBNA/KMQY/KCSV. Rain will move off to the east this
evening and leave behind fog development overnight into Friday
morning. IFR and even LIFR vis/cigs will be possible at all
terminals, especially KCKV and KCSV. Southwesterly/westerly winds
today around 10 knots will be light and variable overnight, and
continue into the morning Friday.

winds and large hail will be possible. A few localized heavy
downpours will occur.

At 856 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Sparta, moving northeast at 40 mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Cookeville, Sparta, Algood, Monterey, Grimsley, Hamptons Crossroads,
Bakers Crossroads, Clarkrange, Crawford and Burgess Falls State Park.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 287 and 313.

AND TROUSDALE COUNTIES UNTIL 1245 PM CDT...

At 1154 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 8 miles northwest of Westmoreland to near
Goodlettsville. Movement was east at 35 mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Gallatin, Lafayette, Hartsville, Hendersonville, Mount Juliet,
Goodlettsville, Westmoreland, Bethpage, Oak Grove, Bledsoe Creek
State Park, Dickerson Chapel Recreation Area, Cottontown and Green
Hill.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Red Boiling Springs, or 11 miles northwest of Gainesboro, moving east
at 30 mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
this storm.
