Update:
Radar and satellite imagery reveal the main line of convection has
exited our region, and only light showers remain across areas
along and east of I-35. The main update this morning was to adjust
rain chances according to the latest trends and also decrease rain
chances across Central Texas this afternoon. Some patchy dense fog
has developed across parts of North Texas as winds became calm,
but should not become widespread. Otherwise, cloud cover should
clear later this morning and result in partly sunny skies. Highs
will range from the mid 70s along the Red River to low 80s across
Central Texas. Thunderstorms are expected to develop late this
afternoon/evening across west Texas in response to an approaching
disturbance. This may approach our far southwestern counties
sometime after midnight tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms continue across Central Texas early this
morning, as seen on radar imagery. A weak cold front continues to
move across North Texas and a few showers have developed along
and south of the boundary. Precipitation should continue to move
off to the south and east through early this morning. The highest
rain chances will be confined across the Central and East Texas,
but a we'll maintain some low chances as the front continues to
move southward. Given the antecedent conditions, minor flooding
issues will be possible through early this morning across areas
that receive pockets of heavier rain. Otherwise, expect overcast
skies and morning low temperatures mostly in the 60s.

Overall, most of North and Central Texas will remain rain-free
today as the front exits our region this morning and slightly
drier air filters in. The exception remains across our far
southern counties, where some convection may develop later this
morning or afternoon along the front. With a lull in
precipitation expected over North Texas, we'll allow the Flash
Flood Watch to expire at 7 AM. However, river flooding will
continue to be an issue over the next few days. Morning cloud
cover should gradually scatter through the day and result in a few
hours of sunshine this afternoon. Despite the passage of a cold
front, highs should still warm into the mid 70s to low 80s. Rain/storm
chances return across parts of the region late tonight as another
disturbance approaches from the west. We'll keep PoPs around
20-40% along and south of the I-20 corridor to account for this
potential.

/Wednesday through Monday/

An upper ridge will amplify over the western states on Wednesday
while a trough occupies the eastern half of the nation with the
main trough axis extending southwestward from the Great lakes to
Central Baja. This pattern will keep North and Central Texas on
the unsettled eastern side of the trough. Therefore, scattered
showers and thunderstorms will remain possible Wednesday with the
best chances across Central Texas near a stalled cold front. The
severe threat will be low due to weak shear and marginal
instability.

Storm chances will continue Wednesday night and Thursday as the
cold front lifts slowly northward. It appears that the southwest
zones will have the best moisture recovery and therefore we will
maintain the highest PoPs there.

The upper pattern across the region will remain somewhat stagnant
as we head into the end of the week with the upper trough axis
staying roughly oriented from the Ark-La-Tex to the Big Bend.
Abundant low level moisture, moderate instability and persistent
large scale lift will be enough for scattered thunderstorms with
the best chances during the heat of the afternoon Friday.

The models continue to indicate that a closed low at the base of
the upper trough will deepen as it meanders east/northeast across
Texas on the weekend, resulting in enhanced large scale lift and
better thunderstorm chances. The best storm chances will still be
during the afternoon and early evening both Saturday and Sunday.
High precipitable water values and weak mid level flow will keep
heavy rainfall as the primary weather threat.

The upper low is progged to open up and lift northeast Sunday
night and Monday while a short wave ridge builds in from the
west. This pattern should move the best rain/storm chances to the
eastern zones on Monday.

Temperatures through early next week will remain below seasonal
normals due to persistent upper level troughing, saturated ground
and continued rain chances. Highs will likely remain in the
upper 70s to the mid 80s Wednesday through Monday with lows
generally in the 60s to around 70.

Light precipitation is ongoing south and east of the terminals
this morning and should continue to exit the region over the next
several hours. Ceilings and visibilities have varied from VFR to
MVFR with intermittent periods of IFR/LIFR across all the
terminals over the past few hours. Visibility reductions have
mostly been limited to the far western Metroplex terminals and
areas further northwest.

Low ceilings should improve to VFR by late this morning or early
this afternoon. VFR should prevail through the remainder of the
