...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 PM EDT THIS 
AFTERNOON FOR HARTFORD, TOLLAND, WINDHAM, SOUTHERN WORCESTER, 
HAMPDEN AND SOUTHWESTERN HAMPSHIRE COUNTIES...

At 1010 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated that heavy rain had fallen 
across the warned area. Between 4 and 6.5 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding.

SOURCE...River gauges reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of streams and small
         rivers, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Worcester, Springfield, Hartford, New Britain, West Hartford, 
  Bristol, Manchester, Chicopee, East Hartford, Enfield, 
  Southington, Westfield, Holyoke, Shrewsbury, Glastonbury, 
  Newington, Vernon, Windsor, Agawam and West Springfield.

Several area rivers were rising towards or had crested above 
Moderate Flood Stage. This included the following rivers; the Mount 
Hope River at Warrenville, the Quinnipiac River at Southington, the 
Hockanum River at East Hartford, and the North Branch Park River in 
Hartford. Rivers that were in minor flood included the Quinebaug 
River at Quinebaug, and the Willimantic River at Coventry. There are 
likely other ungaged rivers and streams that are producing minor to 
moderate flooding in the warning area.

In addition, any areas of significant urban and poor drainage 
flooding may take several hours or more to fully recede.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A FLOOD WARNING...

Across Northern Connecticut, most small rivers and streams are 
coming into crest or beginning to recede. While river flooding 
remains a threat through this afternoon, the threat of flash 
flooding has come to an end.
