PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

.Torrential rainfall occurred overnight and early this morning. 
Rainfall totals ranged from 3 to 6 inches across much of southern 
New England, with localized higher totals. As a result, a number of 
area rivers and streams are flooding, or are forecast to produce 
flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

  the Westfield River At Westfield.
* Until late this evening.
* At 8:30 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 13.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 14.0 feet 
  this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late this 
  afternoon.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet, Flooding of low lying sections along the 
  river through Westfield is expected. The Westfield River will also 
  backup the Little River and Powdermill Brook with flooding 
  expected along these smaller tributaries. Road closures may be 
  required along Route 20 and Union Avenue. Flooding is also 
  expected in the Westgate Shopping Center parking area.

* At 9:15 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 10.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

* At 9:15 AM the river was at 10.5 feet, and nearing crest. 
* Forecast...The river is expected to crest around 9.7 feet by 
  midday today, then fall below flood stage late this afternoon. The 
  river will continue falling to 8.2 feet early Sunday morning.
* Impact...At 10.0 feet, Flooding will affect low lying areas along 
  the river in Wayland, including a portion of Shore Road and Pelham 
  Island Road near Heards Pond.

* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending 
  at 8:45 AM EDT Thursday was 10.3 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.7 feet 
  this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late this 
  evening.
* Impact...At 11.0 feet, Structures and homes are impacted in low 
  lying sections of Warwick. Affected areas include homes and 
  businesses on Wellington Avenue and Avery Road in Cranston, as 
  well as Pioneer Avenue, Bellows Street, Venturi Avenue and a 
  portion of River Street in Warwick.

  some homes and businesses along the river in these towns.

* Recent Activity...The river crested at 14.0 feet at 5:45 AM, and 
  has started to recede.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this 
  evening and continue falling to 6.9 feet Sunday morning.
* Impact...At 12.0 feet, Minor flooding of lowland areas along the 
  river is expected, and may include lowest lying homes and 
  businesses along Route 4.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Farmington River At Simsbury.
* Until early Saturday afternoon.
* At 9:01 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 11.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late 
  this morning, and continue rising to a crest of 15.3 feet tomorrow 
  morning. It will then fall below flood stage Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins with numerous 
  roads and residences affected. Evacuations may be needed along 
  various roads in Avon and Simsbury, including Riverside Road in 
  Simsbury. Flooding also begins to affect low lying sections of 
  Bloomfield and East Granby. Follow the directions of emergency 
  management officials and obey all road closures.

* Impact...At 6.0 feet, In Richmond, the Wood River renders portions 
  of Wood River Drive and Wood River Circle impassable. In 
  Hopkinton, the Wood River floods sections of Dow Park off of Main 
  Street.

* At 9:00 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 6.5 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this afternoon, 
  climbing to 8.1 feet just after midnight tonight. The river will 
  then remain near 8.0 feet through Friday morning, then gradually 
  recede. The river will fall below flood stage Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 8.0 feet, Floodwaters approach lowest lying homes 
  along Hiscox Road in Westerly. Along Route 3, flooding occurs at 
  some homes in French Village in Hopkinton.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this 
  afternoon to a crest of 10.4 feet just after midnight tonight. It 
  will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.
* Impact...At 10.0 feet, Flooding is likely along low lying areas of 
  the river. This includes the lower level of the River Island 
  Condominiums in Woonsocket, and lower end of the Albion Mills 
  Apartments parking area. Flood waters may also cover portions of 
  the parking areas of some of the mills and shopping outlets in 
  Cumberland located just off of Route 122.

* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just 
  after midnight tonight to a crest of 8.3 feet tomorrow morning. It 
  will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 8.0 feet, Backwater flooding from the Taunton River 
  will cause flooding of lower Purchade Brook in Middleboro.  This 
  will cause Woloski Park to become impassable by most vehicles.  
  Beware of the dangers of crossing flooded roadways.

  after midnight tonight to a crest of 5.6 feet tomorrow evening. It 
  will then fall below flood stage Saturday evening.
* Impact...At 6.0 feet, Flooding is likely in low lying sections 
  along the river including portions of Maynard, Hudson and Concord. 
  Water may approach homes along the river and may force several 
  localized road closures.
