observations indicated extreme winds, associated with the eyewall of 
hurricane Laura, were moving onshore along a line extending from 
NEAR Lake Arthur to NEAR Pine Island to NEAR Longville to NEAR 
Vidor, moving north at 20 mph.  THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND 
LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION!

.AVIATION...
Hurricane Laura has made landfall south of Lake Charles and
continues to move northward. Conditions will continue to
deteriorate as Laura moves north through the area with widespread
MVFR/areas of IFR ceilings and visibilities developing. Gusty
showers and thunderstorms will continue through the morning with
hurricane force winds expected over the next few hours. Winds and
rain will gradually diminish from south to north during Thursday
morning as Laura moves northward and weakens.
