...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel River...Mill Creek...
  Mississinewa River...Wabash River...White River...Youngs Creek...


.Precipitation of up to about 2 inches fell Sunday into Monday, 
heaviest within 50 miles north and south of Interstate 70 across 
the state. Flooding is expected to occur at several locations on 
the Wabash River from Lafayette southward, and on the White River 
from Anderson southward. Flooding along the lower reaches will 
last past February 20.

The latest forecast model data is predicting flood crests to 
generally be close to, but probably slightly below, what we saw in 
January. Crests along the White River are expected to come close to 
moderate flood state at Spencer, Elliston, Newberry, and 
Edwardsport. County, state, and federal roads and some river cabins 
may be impacted.  In addition, a few homes in Waverly may be 
affected. The Mississinewa River near Ridgeville will come near or 
perhaps onto State Road 1 near State Road 28.

Flooding on the Driftwood River is expected to last no more than a 
couple days.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  and Shields...Ewing Road near Brownstown...County road 525 North 
  near Seymour wastewater treatment plant...Honeytown Road and 
  possibly state roads 250 East of Dudleytown and 256 west of Austin.

  Station begin to flood. Flooding of agricultural land along U.S. 63
  north of Terre Haute, west bank of river and in southwest Vigo 
  County occurs. County roads flood in southwest Vigo County. The 
  wetland projects between U.S. 40 and I-70 begin to slowly fill.

upper level jet will develop low pressure across eastern Texas and
Louisiana mid week, with the system pushing quickly northeast
through the Ohio Valley and into New England. This system will
bring widespread precipitation to the area, much of which looks to
fall as rain, with snow bookending the rain Wednesday morning and
Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Light slushy snow
accumulations will be possible across mainly the northern half of
central Indiana. An arctic airmass will follow, bringing much
colder temperatures for the end of the week and the start of the
weekend.

A quiet night is expected across central Indiana. Low level cloud
cover should persist most of the night, but ongoing cold advection
will allow temperatures to get down into the mid 20s to low 30s
across the area.

.SHORT TERM /Tuesday through Thursday/...

Main focus for the short term is on the dynamic system set to
impact the area Wednesday into Thursday morning.

Precipitation at onset Wednesday morning will likely fall in the
form of snow, with a changeover to rain proceeding northward
through the area as warm air aloft arrives and surface
temperatures rise well into the 30s. This changeover will then
reverse from the northwest Wednesday night as the low pulls away
and cold advection begins. Total snow accumulations of 1 to as
much as 2-3 inches are possible across the northern half, with
highest amounts over the far north - although with the rain this
may be deceiving as much of the snow may melt or turn to wet
slush. Profiles suggest freezing rain or sleet will not be
significant contributors to amounts.

The low track is fairly well clustered in the GFS ensembles for
being 36-48 hours out, but minor low level thermal profile
differences will make a significant different in the precipitation
type outcomes. Stay tuned to forecast updates as this system

.LONG TERM /Thursday night through Monday/...

Models in good agreement that surface high pressure will build in
Thursday night and Friday in the wake of an upper trough of low
pressure. This and a dry column will allow for clearing skies and
very cold temperatures late in the week. Blend suggests overnight
lows in the single digits to near 15 degrees Thursday night and
afternoon highs only in the upper teens and upper 20s on Friday.

This will then abruptly change starting Saturday as the surface low
moves to the east and allows for a quick warmup and increased
moisture. The continued southerly flow will interact with waves in
the upper flow and bring chances for precipitation starting Saturday
night. Model soundings and thicknesses support mostly rain by
Sunday afternoon but a mix possible Saturday night into Sunday
morning.

Continued low level warm advection supports above normal
temperatures by Sunday. Areas near and south of Interstate 70
could see 50 degrees plus by Monday.

.AVIATION /Discussion for the 11/00Z TAF Issuance/...

MVFR conditions will continue into tonight at all TAF sites except
KHUF where VFR may return early tonight. High pressure will
continue to strengthen over the region, so once VFR returns, it
will become the predominant flight category through the end of the
TAF period. Meanwhile, winds will start out northeasterly, backing
a bit to the northwest through the period. Sustained speeds will
range between 4 to 8 kts.

Discussion: A storm system is expected to move through the Ohio
Valley around Wednesday into Thursday. This system has the potential
to bring a wintry mix of precipitation to the area. Light accumulating
snow is possible during this time frame.

Colder air moving in behind the system may allow for wind chills to
fall to below zero degrees late Thursday night into Friday morning.
