* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* FORECAST: The river will continue rising to near 14.3 feet by 
  Friday morning. The river will fall below Minor Flood Stage 
  Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Homes and businesses on Arden Road
  will be flooded.
* Impact...At 13.3 feet...Guy and Adger Roads will be flooded and 
  homes along these roads will flood. Flooding of a home near Culbertson
  Court and Arden Road will begin. Parts of Pelzer boat ramp 
  will flood.

  at 13.31 feet at 9 PM Thursday.
* Minor Flood Stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* FORECAST: The river will continue to fall to below Minor Flood 
  Stage by tonight.
* Impact...At 12.0 feet...Flood stage is reached. Further flooding of
  woodlands and fields downstream of gage will occurr. Flooding of a 
  home near culbertson court and arden road will begin (greenville 
  county). Homes on adger street (anderson county) will begin to 
  flood. +
* Impact...At 10.8 feet...Arden Road in Greenville County will begin 
  to flood at its lowest elevation, which is directly across the 
  Saluda River from the boat ramp in Anderson County.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet...The boat ramp located off of Adger Street in
  Anderson County is inundated.  Water is beginning to spread across 
  the associated parking lot and access road.  Water is beginning to 
  inundate the lowest elevations of one backyard that borders the

  at 8:45 AM this morning.
* Minor Flood Stage is 9.5 feet.
* Moderate flood stage is 13.0 feeet.
* Major flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* FORECAST: The river is cresting and will fall to below Minor Flood 
  Stage tonight.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Most homes between the river and riverdale 
  drive and riverdale circle will be flooded. Flooding at this level 
  will be similar to the flooding that occurred on september 9, 2004.
  Major flooding occurrs.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Homes along old easly bridge road and along
  fish trap road and shady acres areas will be flooded. +
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...Homes on riverview circle will be flooded. 
  Most of riverview circle and parts of riverview drive will be 
  flooded. Back water on georges creek will cause water to appraoch 
  homes in quail haven subdivision in pickens county. Moderate 
  flooding occurrs.
* Impact...At 11.5 feet...Homes will be surrounded by water on 
  riverview circle south of highway 123 and parts of riverview drive 
  will begin to flood. +
* Impact...At 10.5 feet...The river will surround homes south of 
  highway 123 on riverview circle. Evacuations in pickens county in 
  the shady acres trailer park area near fish trap road and along old
  easley bridge road near highway 123 will begin. +
* Impact...At 9.5 feet...Evacuations on the pickens county side of 
  the river north and south of old easley bridge road will likely 
  begin. Homes will be threatened in the shady acres subdivision 
  especially along ron lane and in the 3900 to 4100 block of old

* FORECAST: The river will continue to fall to below Minor Flood 
  Stage by Saturday evening.
* Impact...At 15.5 feet...Major Flood Stage.  South Fork Catawba 
  River floodwaters may be inundating the Cramerton Fire Department, 
  Cramerton Drug Store, South Fork Masonic Lodge, and adjacent homes 
  and businesses along 8th Ave. and N. Main St.  Floodwaters may be 
  approaching the Cramerton Police Department.  Flooding of Duharts 
  Creek may be impacting adjacent sections of Mayflower Rd., and 
  Cramer Mountain Rd. may be inundated with several inches of water. 
  Impacts may be similar to those associated with flooding on March 
  21st, 2003.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Moderate Flooding continues.  The South 
  Fork Catawba may be flooding several roads in the Cramerton area, 
  including Cramer Mountain Rd. along Duharts Creek, Riverside Dr., 
  8th Ave. near the South Fork Masonic Lodge and adjacent park, and 
  Greenwood Pl. near Lakewood Park. The Cramerton Fire Department, 
  Cramerton Drug Company, and the South Fork Masonic Lodge may begin 
  to flood.  Floodwaters may be approaching the Cramerton Police 
  Department parking lot.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...Moderate Flood Stage.  The South Fork 
  Catawba River may begin inundating the lowest floors and/or crawl 
  spaces of homes along Riverside Dr. between 4th St. and 5th St. in 
  Cramerton.  Impacts may be similar to those associated with 
  flooding on October 9th, 2005.

* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* FORECAST: The river will continue rising to near 19.3 feet by 
  Saturday morning. The river will fall below Minor Flood Stage 
  Sunday afternoon.
* Impact...At 19.0 feet...Moderate Flood Stage.  The French Broad 
  River may be overtopping the railroad tracks and floodwaters may be
  threatening a trailer park on River Ridge Rd. Floodwaters may be 
  approaching buildings north of Grove Bridge Road along US 64. Parts
  of River Road, Pleasant Grove Rd., Butler Bridge Rd. and Big Willow
  Rd. are likely flooding. Associated tributaries, including Little 
  River, are likely flooding due to high water levels on the French 
  Broad River.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Minor Flooding continues. Widespread 
  farmland flooding between the French Broad River and the railroad 
  tracks is ongoing.  The river may be overtopping the railroad 
  tracks near Fodderstack Mountain Rd. and River Ridge Rd.  The 
  intersection of River Rd. and Big Willow Rd. is inundated with 
  several inches of water.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet...Minor Flooding continues.  Floodwaters 
  continue to inundate farmland between the French Broad River and 
  the railroad tracks. Floodwaters may start to inundate the 
  shoulders of River Road near the Big Willow Road intersection. 
  Floodwaters continue to impact boat access areas at Grove Bridge 
  Rd. and Crab Creek Rd.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet...Minor Flood Stage. Farmland flooding 
  continues on both sides of the French Broad River. Floodwaters 
  begin to impact boat access areas at Grove Bridge Rd. and Crab 
  Creek Rd.

  Stage by early Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...Moderate Flood Stage. Significant 
  inundation of adjacent wooded areas and other low-lying areas is 
  increasing downstream of Saluda Dam. Floodwaters may begin 
  inundating outbuildings, basements, and crawl spaces as well as 
  subdivision roads.  Residents next to the river should have 
  completed property protection, closely monitor the forecast and 
  guidance from Anderson, Greenville, and Pickens counties, and be 
  prepared to evacuate to higher ground immediately.
* Impact...At 9.5 feet...Minor Flood Stage. Inundation of adjacent 
  wooded areas and other low-lying areas is increasing downstream of 
  Saluda Dam. Residents next to the river need to take precautions to
  protect property in the lowest elevations of their properties and 
  closely monitor the forecast and follow guidance from Pickens and 
  Greenville counties.

* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* FORECAST: The river will continue to fall to below Minor Flood 
  Stage by this morning.
* Impact...At 9.5 feet...Minor Flood Stage. Inundation of adjacent 
  wooded areas and other low-lying areas is increasing downstream of 
  Saluda Dam. Residents next to the river need to take precautions to
  protect property in the lowest elevations of their properties and 
  closely monitor the forecast and follow guidance from Pickens and 
  Greenville counties.

  to flood at its lowest elevation, which is directly across the 
  Saluda River from the boat ramp in Anderson County.

.SYNOPSIS...
Colder, but drier, conditions will develop behind the front through
Friday. A swiftly moving system will cross the region on Saturday,
before dry high pressure sets up by Sunday. Another moist cold front
will approach the area slowly from the west during the early to
middle part of next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 230 PM EST: Cleared out most of the counties from the Tornado
Watch, as line of deeper convection continues to drift east and
south. Still needs to clear the last tier counties from Greenwood to
Cabarrus counties. The last of the watch in our forecast area should
be able to be cancelled within an hour or so.

On the flooding front, widespread flooding ongoing, with continued
light to moderate rain spreading in from the SW. Rates are only 0.25-
0.5"/hr at most, but these rates may be enough to exacerbate
flooding. The Flash Flood Watch will continue as is.

Later this evening, the stratiform rain shield should gradually
weaken and shift east, ending most of the rain. Runoff will likely
result in continued rises on larger streams and rivers, but the
flash flood threat should subside. Still expect a late-evening fropa
across the mountains, with strong CAA bringing snow levels down to
about 3500 ft by daybreak Friday. Snow showers aren't expected to
really get going until Friday morning. The 850 mb flow will be more
due westerly, so not real ideal for upslope snow showers. But still
could see 1-3" of snow accums along the TN border by end of the day
Friday above 3500 ft. Not quite enough to warrant a winter weather
advisory at this point. Otherwise, Friday will be cool and breezy,
with temps below normal.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
rsday: The low pressure system currently
impacting the area will be moving away by Friday night and will be
replaced briefly by surface high pressure. The high will move
quickly off to the east on Saturday allowing a weak system to impact
the area Saturday afternoon and evening. High pressure will build
back in for Sunday.

Temperatures Friday night will drop into the teens and 20s in the
mountains and the upper 20s to lower 30s in the Piedmont. Winds may
be gusty in the higher mountain elevations. Saturday will be a cool
day as clouds and light precipitation move in. This will be rain
outside the mountains and a mix of rain and snow in the mountains.
It looks like there may be a few inches of snow accumulation at the
higher elevations in the southwest mountains of North Carolina.
Otherwise, any accumulations will be less than 1 inch.

Quiet conditions with seasonable temperatures are expected on
Sunday.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 230 PM EST Thursday: A mid level trough will develop across
the southwestern and central parts of the country for the early part
of next week. This will lead to a wet and warm pattern with at least
some risk of flooding. Not much time for details this afternoon.

.AVIATION /20Z THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
At KCLT and Elsewhere: A line of storms is currently crossing the
KCLT airfield at time of TAF issuance. Expect that to push east
sometime between 18-19z. However, the line may pivot back north
slightly and keep a threat for additional tstms. But I expect the
storms to remain south of the terminal after 19z. The other sites
are generally in the light to moderate rain shield, with variable
amounts of vsby and cig restrictions. Thunderstorms linger near KAND
for the next few hours, but are not expected to reach GMU/GSP. So
the rest of the daylight hours, will see light to moderate
-RA, with generally VFR cigs and MVFR vsby. Cigs are expected to
lower to MVFR (and possibly IFR after sunset. Then conditions should
improve before daybreak, as dry air filters in behind a passing cold
front. VFR conditions with gusty SW winds expected on Friday.

Outlook: Northwest flow may persist near KAVL, but drying is
expected elsewhere on Friday. A quick-moving system will move
through the region on Saturday, with brief restrictions possible,
before drying returns on Sunday.
