.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.

The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United 
States Geological Survey.

* Until further notice.
* At 830 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.3 feet, and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is expected to 
  continue.
* Flood stage is 15 feet.
* Between 15 and 17 feet, minor flooding occurs in the woodlands and 
  fields along the creek upstream and downstream from the gage on the 
  U.S. Highway 41, or Nashville Street, bridge. The flood water will 
  expand to inundate the entire area under the bridge as well as the 
  floodplain upstream and downstream of the bridge. Minor flooding of 
  the natural floodplain will also occur upstream of the gage between 
  Interstate 75 and U.S. Highway 41, approaching the low lying 
  portions of residential yards .

The Flood Warning continues for
  The West Chickamauga Creek near Fort Oglethorpe.
* From tomorrow morning until Thursday evening.
* At 915 PM Tuesday the stage was 10.4 feet, and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast to develop.
* Flood stage is 11 feet.
* The creek is forecast to rise above flood stage early Wednesday 
  morning then continue rising, reaching near 11.5 feet by Wednesday 
  evening. The river will fall below flood stage by Thursday 
  afternoon.
* At 11 feet, minor flooding begins in the woodlands and fields near 
  the creek upstream and downstream from the gage on the Georgia 
  Highway 146, or Cloud Springs Road, bridge. Minor flooding of the 
  creek can also be expected further downstream as it crosses the 
  Tennessee border into the south East Ridge area.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Lookout Creek near New England.
* Until Thursday morning.
* At 9 PM Tuesday the stage was 15 feet, and falling.
* Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast to 
  continue.
* Flood stage is 12 feet.
* The river will begin rising once again by late Tuesday evening, 
  reaching near 16.5 feet Wednesday morning. The river will fall below 
  flood stage Thursday morning.
* Between 15 and 17 feet, minor flooding continues along Sells Lane in 
  Trenton, Mason Road near Rising Fawn and Creek Road near New 
  England. These roads and other roads with creeks flowing into 
  Lookout Creek will flood causing the roads to be closed. The water 
  will be a few feet deep on portions of these roads. Also minor 
  flooding will continue to expand downstream as the creek crosses the 
  Tennessee border into the Tiftona area.

  into the natural flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream 
  from the gage at Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large 
  portions of the sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway 
  will begin to flood. The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and 
  McFarland Road will be covered with around one foot of water. A 
  portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road will be covered with

  The Big Creek near Alpharetta.
* Until late Thursday night.
* At 10AM Wednesday the stage was 8.1 feet...and 
  rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 8.4 feet by after midnight 
  tomorrow. The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow late 
  evening.
* At 8 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the 
  woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south 
  Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County. 
  Additional portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor flooding 
  with 1 to 2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking paths 
  will be closed...especially upstream and downstream from the gage 
  on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Mill Park. Portions of the 
  YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will flood.

  The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.
* At 18 feet...Minor flooding will expand further into the 
  woodlands and fields along the river upstream and downstream from 
  the gage on the Georgia Highway 72 bridge. A sand dredge operation 
  on the left bank near the gage will become flooded. A large portion
  of Roy Wood Road will be flooded with several feet of water and the
  Broad River Outpost for Canoes and Kayaks location will be under 
  water. Flooding of the yard behind an assisted living home off of 
  Roy Wood Road will continue to expand.

.SHORT TERM /Rest of today through Wednesday Night/...

Main focus of fcst will largely be the strong to severe storm threat
in the near term and tonight period. An upper shortwave looks to
amplify some across the area late this afternoon into overnight.
While a lingering wedge has persisted in the northeast, mainly from
northern half of the Atlanta Metro over to Athens and northward, the
other portion of the CWA has had more destabilization with some
scattering of stratocu and increased daytime heating. The RAP even
has an axis of progged SBCAPE getting up to near 1500 J/kg going
into this evening ahead of the trough. With ample low and deep layer
shear expected, the Slight to Marginal severe outlook looks well
justified for damaging winds with any bowing segments, along with
hail and isolated tornado threats. The HREF probs for STP greater
than 1 do get above 90 percent for late afternoon into evening
across mainly western portions of the CWA, though any localized
interaction with the aforementioned wedge front could focus an
increased risk for stronger rotating convection and will need to be
monitored.

Otherwise expecting a drying postfrontal regime for Wednesday and a
switch to NW flow aloft. Should still be pleasant above normal temps
getting into the 70s for most areas then lows in the upper 40s to
50s Wednesday night.

.LONG TERM /Thursday through Tuesday/...

The highlights of the extended forecast are above average
temperatures with a couple dry days followed by a late weekend
frontal passage.

The forecast picks up on Thursday morning with northwesterly mid-
/upper-level flow and a surface high sinking providing dry
conditions through Friday. South to southwesterly lower and upper
level flow returns on Saturday ahead of developing surface low over
the Midwest region. PoPs increase through the day Saturday into
Sunday as the associated cold front approaches and sweeps through
the CWA. Models have come into better alignment with the timing of
this system with some minor discrepancies in precipitation amounts,
ranging between .01 and .25 inches.

Medium range models bring in quasi-zonal flow with a weak surface
high over the Ohio River Valley on Monday then begin major to have
major disagreement through the rest of the extended forecast.
Currently, the GFS has the development of a faster and more
progressive mid-level over the Appalachians on Tuesday while the
ECMWF has a more amplified mid-level trough with a surface low
developing over the SE. Regardless, rain chances look to continue
into early next week even though confidence remains low on potential
system impacts.

High temperatures should remain above average through the period,
except on Sunday and Monday, thanks to the aforementioned cold
front. Lows should remain above average through the rest of the
extended.

18Z UPDATE...

LIFR/IFR cigs lingering near KAHN, with 2500-3500 ft range and some
VCSH for other sites. Shower and TSRA coverage increases this
evening, mainly in the 02-06z period for the northern sites then
later south. Strong to severe storms possible as well so could
have stronger gusts in any development. Expecting return of some
IFR cigs close to 800 ft near KATL overnight and MVFR vsbys before
front passes through (cigs a bit lower for KAHN and higher for
southern sites). SW winds mainly 7-12 kts with some gusts near
18kts for KATL. Should shift more west to NW by Wednesday morning.
