* At 23.0 feet...Flooding occurs at the west approach to the N 
  Highway bridge located 0.2 miles west of Blairstown. Flooding also 
  occurs across B Highway near Big Creek which is several miles 
  northwest of Blairstown.
* At 20.0 feet...The west bank of the creek begins to flood.

As of this morning, a cluster of showers and storms was moving
through portions of SE KS/SW MO. A surface warm front was bisecting
the southern portion of the forecast area. This cluster is expected
to continue its journey northeastward through the sunrise hour, but
its respective severe weather threat is somewhat limited. While
~1000 J/Kg will support modest thunderstorms and small hail, the
near surface cool inversion should help limit downward momentum in
thunderstorm downdrafts, especially north of the warm front.
Increasing ascent may also lead to additional convection
developing outside/ahead of this cluster in the next 1-3 hours.
With time, additional storms upstream are expected, and these too
will move towards/through the CWA during the remainder of the
morning hours. This activity, especially any thunderstorms towards
the rear of the eventual new cluster exiting, will have better
access to increasing instability; therefore a marginal risk of
severe weather is expected, with nickel-sized hail and brief wind
gusts to 55 mph.

Much of the forecast area is expected to be rain-free by late
morning/midday as subsidence in the wake of the morning
activity/shortwave trough, with a strong mid-level dry slot cutting
into the region. This along with boundary layer mixing should allow
for skies to at least become partially sunny by early afternoon over
the western half of the CWA. With the warm front accelerating north
in response to the approaching primary wave, an unstable atmosphere
is probable to materialize by mid-afternoon across much of the CWA
ahead of a swiftly-moving dryline. Ample effective shear and
instability are expected to support severe weather, including
supercellular storms. The biggest uncertainty remains to convective
coverage. In areas of northwest/northern Missouri (along/north
Highway 36) and points northward into SE NE and Iowa, confidence
is higher that at least widely scattered thunderstorms, including
supercells, will develop by mid-afternoon. This area will reside
in the left exit region of a 130kt jet streak, with strong
vorticity advection with the approaching wave. The most robust
storms that develop in this area will likely become supercells.
Low-level flow will be slightly veered ahead of the dryline,
albeit this region will have the greatest chance for some
augmentation of better low-level cyclonic curvature, leading to
some tornado potential, along with the threat of hail to golf-
ball size. Areas south of Highway 36, while some CAMs hint at
development within the warm sector along the dryline, tend to
gravitate to the belief that shallow convection will indeed
develop, but struggle with the placement of the aforementioned jet
streak with mid/upper convergence. Therefore wouldn't be
surprised to see a string of shallow convective updrafts, but
there remains high uncertainty whether these will take full
advantage of a healthy warm sector. If robust storms do indeed
develop, the environment would also support a supercellular storm
mode.

Expect a breezy day with southerly winds gusting to 30-35 mph
during the afternoon. With the sun expected to make an appearance,
afternoon temperatures will soar into the middle 70s, with dewpoints
in the upper 50s to lower 60s. This warmth will be short-lived as a
strong cold front moves through during the overnight hours, with
temperatures crashing by sunrise Friday. In fact, the next three
mornings (Fri, Sat, Sun) will likely have temperatures at or well
below freezing in most areas. Quiet weather will finally make a
return Friday and Saturday, with two upper waves next week likely to
bring precipitation chances both Sunday and again Tuesday/Wednesday.

MVFR ceilings will clear with VFR this afternoon and gusty winds,
expect isolated thunderstorms to develop between 3pm and 7pm,
some of these storms could be severe with hail, strong winds, and
a brief tornado. However expect most of the storms to be north of
Metro area, so KSTJ may see better chances of severe storms.
Otherwise expect LLWS this evening until around midnight. A cold
front will sweep through area around midnight with gusty northwest
winds to 30 knots also MVFR cigs will move in behind cold front
and then clear by mid morning tomorrow.

west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

 Isolated to scattered storms are then expected during the afternoon
 and evening. The greatest chance for severe weather with this round
 is going to be along and north of a line from St. Joseph to
 Columbia, MO. Hail up to golf ball sized, damaging winds up to 65
 mph, and a tornado or two are possible. South and west of this
 line, it'll be harder for storms to get going. If a healthy storm
 can develop, then hail up to quarter sized, damaging winds up to 60
 mph, and a brief tornado are possible. Minor flooding is possible.
