...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM CST FOR
CHICOT COUNTY...EAST CARROLL AND WEST CARROLL PARISHES...
WASHINGTON...ISSAQUENA AND BOLIVAR COUNTIES...

At 149 AM CST, local law enforcement reported some flash flooding in 
Washington County. Up to two to three inches of rain have already 
fallen, especially across the southern half of the warned area. 
Flash flooding is already occurring.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greenville, Cleveland, Leland, Lake Providence, Hollandale, Lake
Village, Dermott, Eudora, Shelby, Shaw, Transylvania, Avon, Scott,
Oak Grove, Mound Bayou, Metcalfe, Renova, Boyle, Benoit and Gunnison.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to three inches are possible, 
especially across the northern half of the warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

06Z TAF discussion: IFR cigs were observed across the north with
decreasing cigs and vsbys cntrl and south at 06Z. Local radars had
scattered -TSRA along and west of the MS river at 06Z with isold -SHRA
east of the MS river. Poor flying conds are expected to continue
into Wednesday as a cold front moves through the region. This
will affect TAF sites from west to east through 18-20Z Wed. Once
the line of storms moves through, conditions should improve but
all sites should remain at least MVFR or lower flight categories
due to low clouds and some vis restrictions. Winds will remain
southerly through the night around 10-15kts, before switching out
of the west around 10kts. Once the front moves through, a change
out of the north will occur likely later tomorrow afternoon.

.DISCUSSION...
The bulk of the precipitation from earlier today has pushed north
of the region. Light showers are ongoing across the eastern part
of the forecast area late this evening, while additional showers
continue to stream north into central portions as well. A few more
robust thunderstorms are also tracking north across areas west of
the Mississippi River. A few of these may be strong this evening
with the primary risk being small hail given these are elevated in
nature. The warm front will remains far to our south, near the
Gulf Coast. Dewpoints are in the mid 60s along and south of the
warm front. North of the front, dewpoints still remain in the 40s
though some lower 50s dewpoints are present across the Highway 84
corridor. It does not appear that much has changed in terms of
thinking for severe potential. Hi-res guidance indicates that the
shower and thunderstorm activity ongoing across Arkansas will
eventually track east into the Mississippi Delta, most likely
after midnight. As this occurs, the warm front will slowly lift
north in response to a surface low tracking northeast across
central Louisiana. This should bring 60 degree dewpoints into
portions of the forecast area, in particular the southern
sections. As this occurs, a broken line of showers and storms will
move east through the region, reaching the I-55 corridor around
12Z and into eastern Mississippi during the morning hours
tomorrow. Current timing accounts for this pretty well. As the
warm front pushes north, portions of the forecast area, from
southwest Mississippi into the I-20 corridor will be along the
northern gradient of some of the better tornado instability
parameters. Going slight risk seems in good shape, with a marginal
risk elsewhere as locations north of the warm front will likely be
more elevated storms. Minor adjustments needed to account for
going trends. /28/

Prior discussion below:

Tonight and Wednesday...

Isolated to scattered showers and storms will continue this
afternoon into the evening hours. The surface flow will become
more southerly during the evening hours and this will result in an
increase in deep layer moisture across the area overnight. PWATS
will climb to near 1.7 inches by early Wednesday morning. A short
wave and associated surface low/front will deepen over southeast
Texas and move into Northeast Louisianan by midnight. This low
will drag a cold front into the area overnight tonight, along with
an increased chance of strong to severe storms. Mid/upper 60s
dewpoints will spread northward ahead of the boundary, and this
combined with good instability (~1000 MU Cape) and strong shear,
will create the potential for strong to severe storms beginning
very early Wednesday morning. A marginal risk is already in affect
for much of the area, but have upgraded an area generally from
Natches to Meridian to a slight risk, where the best combination
of instability/shear will occur. The greatest risk will be
damaging wind gusts and a tornadoes. With all of the recent
rainfall and the potential for more overnight, much of the area
north of I-20 remains in a flash flood watch.

The severe potential will shift east of the area by the late
morning/early afternoon hours, but the boundary will become
stationary over the southeastern portions of the area. Showers and
storms will continue near the boundary in the southeast through the
afternoon hours. /15/

Wednesday night into Friday...

The next frontal wave will bring additional lift during this
period for much of the area. With anomalous moisture continuing to
be transported over the ArkLaMiss (PW > 1.5 inches, ~ +3 SDs) and
freezing levels > 13kft, expect efficient warm rain processes to
support fairly intense rainfall rates where convection develops.
This could lead to localized flash flooding over southern/central
MS initially with the threat area shifting northward through the
Delta region into north central MS as we go later into Thursday
and Thursday night. Will keep the limited FF threat going for
southern/eastern portions of the area tomorrow night into
Thursday, but it seems a greater concern for flooding will
eventually develop in northern portions of the area where heavy
rain fell today, especially from Thurs night through Friday. /EC/

Friday night through the weekend...

Continued warm air advection Friday through Saturday will set the
stage for a warm and stormy Saturday for much of the forecast
area. Will continue to advertise a Slight risk areas north and
west of a line from near Natchez to Jackson to Starkville. Areas
to the south and east may still see some strong to severe
thunderstorms on Saturday, but forcing will be weaker as a passing
shortwave pulls away to the north. As this potential event is
still several days away, please stay tuned for updates to the
forecast. Convective rain rates could result in locally heavy
downpours, but at this time the Saturday system looks to move
through too quickly to result in any additional widespread
flooding concern in our area. /NF/

COUNTIES IN SOUTHEASTERN ARKANSAS AND CENTRAL MOREHOUSE PARISHES
UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST...

At 1103 PM CST, Meteorologists were tracking a strong thunderstorm 11
miles southeast of Bastrop, moving northeast at 70 mph.

Dime size hail will be possible with this storm.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
  Galion around 1110 PM CST.
  Jones around 1120 PM CST.
  Wilmot around 1125 PM CST.
  Parkdale around 1130 PM CST.
  Portland around 1135 PM CST.
  Chicot Junction around 1140 PM CST.
  Lake Village around 1145 PM CST.
  Mcmillan Corner around 1150 PM CST.

Other locations impacted by this storm include Mer Rouge, Bonita and
Oak Ridge.
