This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms this morning may produce very heavy rain
and local flooding. A few storms may become strong with gusty winds
to 50 mph and frequent lightning.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring locally
heavy rainfall during the work week. The greatest threat for
thunderstorms with heavy rain will be during the afternoon and
evening hours each day.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters are encouraged to report heavy rainfall and any severe
weather to the National Weather Service.

...AN AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE INTO AND AFFECT
EDGECOMBE AND SOUTHEASTERN HALIFAX COUNTIES UNTIL 215 PM EDT...

At 111 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong
thunderstorms near Bruce, or 9 miles northeast of Farmville, moving
north at 20 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph, heavy rain, and intermittent lightning will
be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Tarboro, Scotland Neck, Princeville, Pinetops, Macclesfield, Hobgood,
Conetoe, Speed, Leggett and Tillery.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
40 mph are capable of knocking down tree limbs and blowing around
trash cans, potted plants, lawn furniture and other light outdoor
objects.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with thess storms, and may
lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.
