* LOCATIONS...Beaches along the Atlantic coast of Cape May, New
  Jersey and Delaware.

* TIMING...High tide occurs between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm Sunday 
  night. High tide on the back bays occurs later than the high 
  tide on the oceanfront. There will be several rounds of coastal 
  flooding. The high risk for rip currents may need to be extended
  through early next week.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Two to three feet of saltwater 
  inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas 
  near shorelines and tidal waterways. Flooding is expected to be 
  severe enough to cause structural damage along with widespread 
  flooding of roadways. Vulnerable homes and businesses may be 
  severely damaged or destroyed as water levels rise further. 
  Numerous will be impassable and some neighborhoods may be 
  isolated. The flood waters are a danger to anyone who attempts

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop.

Be prepared to begin taking appropriate action to protect life
and property. Follow the recommendations of local emergency
management officials. Be sure to check the latest forecast from
time to time in case a warning is issued or any new information
becomes available.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...One to two feet of saltwater 
  inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas 
  near shorelines and tidal waterways. At this level, additional

  may flood. Lives may be at risk when people put themselves in 
  harm's way. Some damage to vulnerable structures may occur.

SUNDAY...

  flooding is possible in the Navy Shipyard, and along Linden 
  Avenue, Spring Garden Street, and Washington Avenue. In 
  Delaware County, flooding is possible in Tinicum Township. In 
  Gloucester and Camden Counties, roadway flooding is possible 
  in Camden, West Deptford Township, Gloucester City, and other 
  locations near the Delaware River and its tributaries. Minor 
  flooding is possible in Bristol, south Trenton, Hamilton 
  Township, Burlington City, Delran, and other locations near 
  the Delaware River and its tributaries.

* WAVES...Wave heights will average 1 to 2 feet on upper 
  Delaware Bay.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor Tidal flooding often results in some road
closures. Usually...the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged...leading to
costly repairs.

.SYNOPSIS...
A stationary boundary to our south will lift very slowly
through the region Sunday and Sunday night. The remnant low of
Gordon will move through the Ohio Valley tonight, then pass
north and west of the region Sunday and Monday. A weak cold
front may cross the area Tuesday behind the departing low. High
pressure then builds in from the north. There remains
uncertainty regarding the track and potential impacts of
Florence for the Mid- Atlantic and Northeast for the middle to
end of the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
The low pressure system including the remnants of Gordon will slowly
continue to propagate eastward overnight. The associated warm front
is expected to stay mostly south of our region overnight. However,
there will be enough synoptic scale lift ahead of the front to
result in widespread rain even north of the front. Given some dry
air in the low levels, rain should be light through the evening
hours. However, after midnight we could start to see higher rain
rates. Instability will be very limited, so no thunder is expected,
but precipitation may be more showery in nature at least through the
overnight hours.

We already have wet antecedent conditions/nearly saturated soils
across the region thanks to heavy rain events the last few days.
Expanded the flood watch further south to include more of South
Jersey and far northern Delmarva. As mentioned by the previous
shift, the higher risk of flooding looks to be during the day Sunday
into Monday, but would rather start it early just in case the front
arrives a bit earlier.

Temperatures tonight will be chilly, as cold-air damming will be
firmly entrenched in the area. Expect readings in the 40s in the
southern Poconos, 50s northwest of the Fall Line, and low 60s
elsewhere.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY/...
The warm front will very slowly lift through the region tomorrow
morning through Monday morning. Strong onshore flow will result in
precipitable water values once again near 2 inches, well above
normal for this time of year. Lift along and north of the front will
result in a band of widespread moderate to heavy rain that should
slowly shift north with the front. Onshore flow is expected through
out the period north of the front, resulting in continued moisture
advection.

Instability on Sunday will be negligible, thus not expecting any
thunderstorms. On Monday, as we may start to see some breaks in the
clouds, we could have some thunderstorms especially through the
afternoon hours.

Temperature wise, though it is technically a warm front, the
precipitation and cloud cover will keep temperatures near or below
normal both Sunday and Monday.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
After about a two week respite, a prolonged period of unsettled
weather is once again on tap for the coming week and into next
weekend.

With the remnant low of Gordon over the Ohio Valley and lifting to
the north and west of the region, along with strong surface high
pressure over the northeastern U.S., a robust and persistent onshore
flow will develop. This will lead to abundant low level moisture
across the region. PWATs will build to 1.75-2". This will set the
stage for moderate to heavy rain across the region.

With several strong shortwaves associated with the remnant low of
Gordon passing north of the region, several rounds of heavy rain and
thunderstorms will impact the area Sunday through Monday. In
general, 1 to 3 inches of rain will fall across southeast PA, the
northern Delmarva, and most of NJ. Higher amounts are possible.

The Flood Watch has been expanded, with this update, to include the
northern Delmarva and additional portions of southern NJ.

The remnant low of Gordon will move into the Great Lakes region on
Monday, which will pull a warm front north through the region. The
low will then track across northern New England Monday night into
Tuesday, which may then bring a cold front into our area. Showers
and thunderstorms will remain likely into early next week as these
frontal boundaries affect the area and additional short
wave/vorticity impulses move across the area.

This front may wash out or stall as it moves into our area by
Wednesday. If the front stalls out across or near our area, showers
and thunderstorms could continue to develop again on Wednesday
across portions of the area as additional short wave/vorticity
impulses affect the region, especially eastern Pennsylvania and
northern New Jersey.

The attention for the end of the period turns to Florence and its
possible effects for the east coast. The latest track from the NHC
brings Florence into the western mid-Atlantic (inside 75W) Wednesday
night. That said, the risk for impacts along the east coast has
increased. However, the uncertainty with the model guidance this far
out makes it difficult to determine the exact location, magnitude,
and timing of these impacts our region will have, if any. Continue
to monitor the forecasts from the NHC on the track of Florence and
begin thinking of possible preparations in case our area does have
an impact from the storm.

One effect regardless of Florence's track will be in increase in
wave action and large swells along the ocean front. This will lead
to an increased rip current risk a continuation of some coastal
flooding. More on this below.

.AVIATION /20Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Tonight...Starting VFR, but ceilings should gradually lower to
MVFR overnight. As rain starts to move in after 06Z, we could
also see MVFR visibilities develop as well. Winds northeast 5 to
15 kts, potentially with higher gusts near the coast. Moderate
Confidence.

Sunday...Expect a prolonged period of MVFR conditions, possibly
lowering to IFR conditions in the heaviest rain both for ceilings
and visibility. Winds will be shifting to easterly and should be 10
to 15 KT with higher gusts possible especially at KACY.

Sunday night and Monday...Widespread MVFR/IFR in rain and stratus.
Possible LIFR conditions in heavy Isolated thunderstorms. Northeast
to east winds could gust 20-25 knots, then become southeast by
Monday.

Monday night through Tuesday...Conditions will vary between VFR and
MVFR through the period with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Winds will be out of the southeast to south around 5-15 knots.

Wednesday...Conditions will vary between VFR and MVFR with a chance
of showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be out of the east around 5-
10 knots.

Thursday...Conditions will vary between VFR and MVFR with a chance
of showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be out of the northeast
around 5-15 knots. Continue to monitor the forecasts as Florence
could have more significant affects on the terminals.

.MARINE...
Winds and seas will continue to build on all waters overnight, with
gale conditions expected by tomorrow morning. Winds should gradually
shift from northeasterly now to easterly by mid day tomorrow.

OUTLOOK...

Sunday night...Gale Force wind gusts of 35-40 kts possible. Seas up
to 12 feet.

Monday and Monday Night...Conditions likely to lower to Small Craft
Advisory levels during the day with gusts 25-30 knots. 10 foot seas
still possible on Monday, subsiding some Monday night.

Tuesday through Thursday...Winds are forecast to remain below
advisory levels, however, long period swells from Florence are
likely to reach area waters. SCA's for hazardous seas are likely.
Continue to monitor forecasts as Florence could have more
significant impacts on area waters.

RIP CURRENTS...
A high risk of rip currents has been extended through Sunday
night. Northeast to east winds will increase and gust to 40 mph
through the remainder of the weekend. Seas will be build up to
12 feet. Waves in the surf zone will likely exceed 7 feet.
With the additional influence of the new moon, the ingredients
exist for the development of dangerous rip currents.

A High Surf Advisory has also been issued for both the NJ and DE
beaches midday Sunday through Sunday night.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
The astronomical tides associated with the new moon in June, July
and August were particularly high this year. The same is true with
September's new moon which occurs on Sunday.

The high astronomical tides along with an onshore flow will result
in some tidal flooding over the next few days in coastal areas of
New Jersey and Delaware, and up along Delaware Bay and the tidal
Delaware River. The evening high tides will be higher than those in
the morning.

We are anticipating minor flooding with this evening's high tide
everywhere, except moderate flooding across the lower Delaware Bay.
A Coastal Flood Warning has been issued for Cape May, Cumberland,
Kent and Sussex counties. Advisories are in place elsewhere.

The northeast wind is forecast to increase further on Sunday with
gale force gusts anticipated. Spotty minor flooding is expected with
Sunday morning's high tide. The evening high tide on Sunday should
produce the most flooding, with widespread minor flooding in coastal
areas of New Jersey and Delaware, and up along Delaware Bay and the
tidal Delaware River. Some locations should experience moderate
flooding. As a result, a Coastal Flood Watch has been issued for the
coast and Delaware Bay.

The onshore flow is expected to begin easing early in the new week.
However, residual minor flooding is likely at least into Monday
night.

.EQUIPMENT...
The KDOX radar remains inoperable. Water damage to the radar
transmitter and product generator is still being assessed. Due to
the unknown extent of the damage, there is no estimated time for the
radar's return to service.

The ASOS (automated observing system) at KILG (Wilmington, DE) took
a lightning strike Friday evening. Much of the equipment is in
operable and not expected to be restored until Monday.
