...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 AM MDT
FOR NORTHWESTERN SHERIDAN COUNTY...

At 1224 AM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Hay Springs,
moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Rushville, Hay Springs, Clinton, Metcalf State Wildlife Management
Area, Intersection of Beaver Creek Road and White Clay Creek Road,
Highway 250 crossing the Niobrara River, Intersection of Highway 87
and Antelope Road and Walgren Lake State Recreation Area.

This includes the following highways...
 Highway 20 between mile markers 74 and 102.
 Highway 250 between mile markers 36 and 48.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

WILL EXPIRE AT 1245 AM MDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty
winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Wednesday)
Issued at 238 PM CDT Tue Jul 24 2018

We're watching the next upper level disturbance as it tracks
across Wyoming, arriving in Nebraska late tonight. This should
help deliver enough broad lift to carry some thunderstorms through
the region overnight. We are expecting storms to initialize across
the Black Hills into eastern Wyoming late this afternoon, moving
into the Panhandle and into western Nebraska by mid evening. It
looks like there is enough shear available to get some of the
storms organized with a severe hail and strong wind threat but it
looks to be isolated and limited to the north and west. Given the
surface high across the east, that could limit the eastward
movement of some of the storms as they encounter that dome, at
least until the disturbance arrives later tonight.

Some showers and storms look to linger into Wednesday morning with
a break in the afternoon. Storms are expected to redevelop
Wednesday evening, with some strong to severe storms possible from
about Ogallala to Oneill and areas to the southeast. Lapse rates
look to be more favorable as cooler temperatures move in aloft
and a more favorable region of the jet moves over, providing
additional forcing which should encourage greater storm coverage.
Damaging winds and large hail will also be the most likely severe
weather threat from these storms.

.LONG TERM...(Wednesday night through Tuesday)

Storms continue into Wednesday evening, pushing south out of the
region late. There will be several chances for showers and storms
associated with disturbances that ripple along the periphery of a
high centered in the desert southwest. Temperatures will be cooler
than normal through the period with high temperatures in the 70s
for most of the area from Thursday through the weekend. Highs
reach back into the low 80s early next week as heights rise.

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Wednesday night)
Issued at 1144 PM CDT Tue Jul 24 2018

Scattered thunderstorms will move into north central and central
Nebraska overnight. This activity is expected to impact the KVTN
terminal from 06z to 10z overnight. Some wind gusts may approach
40 KTS in the vicinity of thunderstorms at the KVTN terminal with
visibilities as low as 2SM. Thunderstorms will be possible in the
vicinity of the KLBF terminal around 09Z overnight and then again
later Wednesday afternoon. For both terminals, expect broken high
clouds over the next 24 hours with ceilings in the 12000 to 20000
FT AGL range.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of western and
north central Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

Scattered strong storms are possible overnight across mainly
north central Nebraska. An isolated severe storm is possible,
mainly over Cherry county. Hail up to quarter size, gusty winds
and heavy rain is the main severe threats overnight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

Isolated strong or briefly severe thunderstorms are possible
Wednesday evening. The area of concern is generally south and
west
of a line from Gordon to Brownlee to Sargent. Large hail and
damaging winds are the primary severe weather hazards. Some
storms
may also be capable of very heavy rainfall.

Thunderstorms are possible at times Thursday through Sunday. The
potential for severe weather is uncertain at this time.

...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTH CENTRAL CHERRY COUNTY UNTIL
130 AM CDT/1230 AM MDT/...

At 1239 AM CDT/1139 PM MDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong
thunderstorm 8 miles southeast of Tuthill, or 19 miles southeast of
Martin, moving southeast at 35 mph.

Dime size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Cody, Kilgore, Nenzel, Medicine Lake, Cody Lake and Eli.

This includes Highway 20 between mile markers 138 and 179.
