* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southern Jefferson County in northeastern Kansas...
  Shawnee County in east central Kansas...
  Northwestern Douglas County in east central Kansas...
  Southeastern Jackson County in northeastern Kansas...

* Until 545 AM CDT

* At 149 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Two to 
  four inch amounts have been reported with over five inches 
  possible in some locations.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Topeka, northern Lawrence, Rossville, Oskaloosa, Tecumseh, Dover,
  Silver Lake, Auburn, Perry, McLouth, Meriden, Ozawkie, Lecompton,
  Willard, Pauline, Williamstown, Perry Lake, Grantville and
  Berryton.

Additional rainfall amounts of up to an inch are possible in
the warned area. 

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 between mile markers 346 and 355.
 Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 167 and 193.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 AM CDT FOR
SOUTHERN JEFFERSON...SHAWNEE...NORTHWESTERN DOUGLAS AND SOUTHEASTERN
JACKSON COUNTIES...

At 236 AM CDT, emergency management reported flash flooding 3 miles 
south-southeast of McLouth where a water rescue was being performed. 
Rainfall of two to four inches has been common in the warned area 
with local amounts over six inches likely. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Topeka, northern Lawrence, Rossville, Oskaloosa, Tecumseh, Dover,
Silver Lake, Auburn, Perry, McLouth, Meriden, Ozawkie, Lecompton,
Willard, Pauline, Williamstown, Perry Lake, Grantville and Berryton.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 between mile markers 346 and 355.
 Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 167 and 193.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
