FOR NORTHERN STEWART COUNTY...

At 201 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles north of
Paris Landing State Park, moving northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. 

SOURCE...Public. 

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind 
         damage to roofs, siding, and trees. 

Locations impacted include...
Dover, Big Rock and Land Between The Lakes. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If on or near Kentucky Lake, get away from the water and move 
indoors or inside a vehicle. remember, lightning can strike out to 
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you 
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter 
now!  Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

At 217 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles northwest
of Dover, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

.DISCUSSION...

We continue to expect a very busy afternoon and evening in the wx
department. At mid morning, scattered thunderstorms that had moved
across our northwest counties were moving up across KY. Mid TN had
mostly cloudy, warm, and rather humid conditions, including 60+
dew points up to BNA.

A low pressure system was approaching the Ozarks with numerous
showers and storms ahead of it. As the low pressure continues to
move eastward today, and conditions destabilize, the stage will
be set for severe thunderstorms.

In Mid TN, the early morning storms were associated with elevated
instability, with our 12Z sounding showing a good low level cap.
South winds will continue to bring warm and more humid air into
the area, so that cap will erode, allowing surface based cape to
jump this afternoon, into the 1000-1500 J/kg range. We will see
scattered thunderstorms bubble up quickly by early afternoon. A
few of these could become severe with large hail and damaging
winds.

The severe potential and coverage will increase late afternoon
into the evening. The approaching low pressure will increase deep
layer shear to 40-45KT, helping support sustained updrafts and
perhaps a few supercells, especially in our western counties. This
means isolated tornadoes are possible as well. Short range models
indicate storms will tend to consolidate, with a likely line of
storms with damaging winds crossing the Mid State west to east,
genrally from 6 PM - 10 PM.

18Z TAF DISCUSSION.

Numerous showers/storms will affect airports this TAF period
especially later this afternoon/evening. MVFR cigs/vis anticipated
with lower categories and amendments possible. Gusty south to
southwest winds this afternoon will weaken and veer to
west/northwest late in the TAF period.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Middle
Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and
evening across all of Middle Tennessee. The greatest chance for
severe storms however remains along and west of I-65. Damaging
straight line winds and hail are the main threats. An isolated
brief tornado is possible as well.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Another round of strong to severe storms is possible in Middle
Tennessee on Thursday.

At 143 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8
miles southeast of Murray, moving northeast at 30 mph.

Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
this storm.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for
Middle Tennessee.
