The National Weather Service in Lubbock Texas has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Castro County in the Panhandle of Texas...

* Until 1145 PM CDT

* At 938 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Up to six inches of rain have 
  fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Dimmitt, Summerfield, Easter and Nazareth. This includes highway 
  385 between Dimmitt and Hereford and state highway 86 between 
  Dimmitt and Nazareth.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the 
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small 
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying 
spots.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT FOR
CASTRO COUNTY...

At 1047 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated 4 to 6 plus inches of rain 
have fallen across the warned area in the past 3 hours. The heaviest 
rain is now shifting to the southeast of the area, but runoff from 
the excessive rainfall will continue to pose a significant flooding 
threat. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Dimmitt, Summerfield, Easter, and Nazareth. This includes Highway 
385 from Dimmitt northward to the county line. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
