.AVIATION...
VFR conditions to start the period with SCT high clouds over the
area while low clouds are poised along the upper TX coast
southwest of KBPT. Stlt trends and model guidance indicates these
lower clouds will reach BPT between 02-03Z and eventually into LCH
by 06Z, resulting in MVFR CIGS. Gusty east southeast winds will
persist this evening, tapering off slightly. Further east, winds
will be a little lighter, decreasing to less than 10 KT this
evening, with low CIGS not expected until between 08-10Z at
LFT/ARA/AEX. CIGS will fall to IFR by late tonight/early Sunday
with patchy fog possible as well.

Sctd SHRA and a few TSRA will develop and spread inland during the
day Sunday ahead of a strong storm system that will cross the
area Sunday night. Southeasterly winds will strengthen during the
day with sustained speeds around 20 KT and gusts as high as 30-35
KT at times. Storms will become more nmrs at BPT/LCH during the
aftn and some storms are expected to reach severe limits with
large hail and damaging winds possible. Activity will spread into
AEX by mid to late aftn but is not expected to reach the Acadiana
terminals until after the TAF period.

DISCUSSION...Very concerning weather pattern emerging for Sunday
and Sunday night. Upper low now entering western new Mexico
progged similarly by models to track east then northeast across
Texas. Models suggesting system to become increasingly negatively
tilted with its approach to the forecast area. Impressive low and
mid level wind fields to develop with a 40 to 50 southerly low
level jet at 850 mb overspreading the area, veering southwest at
50 to 70 knot at 500 mb. With that said, more than ample shear
will be in place while the entire area warm sectors through the
morning hours. Steep lapse rates will be in place while moisture
will be on the uptick with PWATS jumping to the extreme in excess
of 2 inches. With deep lift developing and MUCAPES from 2-3k j/kg,
all severe weather modes will be in place through this time
including hail, damaging straight-line winds and tornadoes. Heavy
and potentially flooding rains also possible and have issued a
flash flood watch accordingly. WPC maintaining a slight risk for
flooding rains while SPC has now encompassed the entire area
under a moderate risk for severe.

MARINE...Intensifying low pressure advancing across the south
plains will bring strengthening southerly winds through Sunday
with widespread showers and thunderstorms developing. Rain chances
will diminish going through Sunday night while winds weaken and
become westerly with the passage of a cold front.
