...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers
and creeks in Indiana...

  Big Blue River...Buck Creek...Deer Creek...Driftwood River...Eagle 
  Creek...East Fork White River...Fall Creek...Sugar Creek...Wabash 
  River...White Lick Creek...White River...Wildcat Creek...Youngs 
  Creek...


.Flooding, ranging from lowland to significant, developed quickly
along streams in central and northern Indiana following heavy rain
Monday night through early Tuesday afternoon. Estimated rainfall
totals range widely from little or nothing in southwest central
Indiana, in such locations as Linton, Vincennes, Washington,
and Loogootee, to over 7 inches in west central Johnson County.
Rainfall is estimated to have exceeded 4 inches in much of Hendricks,
Marion, Morgan,and Johnson counties, and smaller portions of Shelby,
Carroll and Howard counties. Isolated areas in other counties may
likewise have amounts exceeding 4 inches.

As of late Tuesday evening moderate flooding was observed on
Deer Creek near Delphi in Carroll County...subsiding, Big Walnut
Creek near Roachdale in Putnam County, White Lick Creek at
Mooresville and White River near Centerton in Morgan County, Youngs
Creek at Amity in southeast Johnson County.  As of Tuesday evening
flooding was reported by media on US Highway 31 in Franklin,
shutting down a portion of the highway.

River flooding along the Wabash in western Indiana will be the
highest since May.  Lowland flooding along the White River from
Spencer to Edwardsport in southern Indiana will be slightly higher
than levels seen in June.  Flooding will last from less than a day to
possibly a week

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 20.9 feet by 
  early tomorrow. The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow 
  evening.
* At 21.0 feet...Greencastle Road and North White Lick Roads on west 
  side of creek flood.  Water on the edge of Bottom Road at Rinker 
  Road on January 13, 2013.  News media showed extensive flooding of 
  old 267 just north of I-70 on January 13, 2013.  Old 267 has 
  flooded at least 4 times at this spot since Labor Day 2003 
  including Labor Day 2003.

  Most of bottomlands flood.  Old Vincennes road and State Road 358 
  between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on 
  average about once a year.

* At 13.2 feet...Lowland flooding in progress along Driftwood River in
  northern Bartholomew County on April 6, 2011. Double Y Saddle Club 
  area flooded.  At least 6 inches of water flowing over CR 950N to 
  Club. Water is less than one foot away from CR 330W just south of 
  its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd. CR 500N west of CR 250W is 
  flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river 
  bank. Lowell Public Access site is open but ramp is totally 
  flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000S and CR 
  900W.

* At 10.0 feet...Every Bartholomew county road that approaches or 
  crosses the East Fork White River including Southern Crossing is 
  affected by flood waters. County Road 800 S is extensively flooded 
  in southern Bartholomew County. Mill Race Park in Columbus is 
  extensively flooded. Flood waters on SR 11 in the southbound lane 
  about 1 mile north of CR 800 S.

  lands.   Many county and state roads in flood plain become 
  impassable by high water.  These include SR 235 East of Medora...SR
  258 East of Cortland...County Road 725 N and possibly State Road 39
  South of Tampico.  High water affects county roads near Vallonia 
  and Shields...Ewing Road near Brownstown...County road 525 North 
  near Seymour wastewater treatment plant...Honeytown Road and 
  possibly state roads 250 East of Dudleytown and 256 west of Austin.

* At 18.0 feet...Extensive flooding covers many acres of agricultural 
  land. State Road 225 closed by high water. Granville Bridge Public 
  Access Site flooded. Tippecanoe CR 950 W south of CR 75 S floods in
  several places from the Wabash Bottoms, Janssen Tract to Warren CR 
  350 N in the Black Rock Preserve Area, a distance of nearly 1.5 
  miles. High water affects Fort Ouiatenon area. All parks in the 
  West Lafayette and Lafayette areas are flooded.  High water almost 
  on North River Road.

  flowing water begins in the wetland project between U.S. 40 and

Issued at 246 PM EDT Tue Jul 11 2017

A brief break from thunderstorms can be expected Wednesday, before
rain chances return by Thursday with a cold front. High pressure
will then provide dry conditions Saturday. A couple of fronts could
bring some more rain to parts of the area Sunday and Tuesday. Hot
and humid conditions midweek will give way to closer to average
conditions by the weekend.

.NEAR TERM.../Rest of Tonight/

Thunderstorms have redeveloped over extreme northern Illinois...
but these should stay well north of our region.  Radar indicated
a few light echoes across our far north.  Main change with this
update is to drop mention of thunder rest of tonight and to keep
a slight chance of showers far north to about 09Z.

Low temperatures near 70 still seems on track given dewpoints near
70 and some wind and warm advection overnight.

.SHORT TERM.../Wednesday through Friday/
Issued at 246 PM EDT Tue Jul 11 2017

Models are close enough that the model blend initialization
was accepted for most items.

On Wednesday the upper ridge nudges into the area and temperatures
aloft warm. This should inhibit convection for the much of the area.
Cannot rule out an isolated storm, but odds are too low to mention.
Went cooler than most guidance for highs across a good part of the
area with the wet ground. It will still be very warm though with
highs in the upper 80s to around 90.

Wednesday night a cold front will approach the area, so will go with
some chance PoPs across the northwest half or so of the forecast
area. As the front moves into the area Thursday and Thursday night
will go chance PoPs all areas. Will keep some lingering PoPs Friday
as the front exits.

Wouldn't rule out some strong storms on Thursday with the front.

Confidence is medium in chances and timing of rain during the short
term as how convection develops one period could affect the next
period's chances.

.LONG TERM /Friday night through Monday/...

Central Indiana is expected to dry out this weekend and early next
week as ensembles expand the Rockies upper ridge to the northeast.
This will help let river and stream crests progress as quickly as
possible. Confidence in mostly dry weather is good.

See not reason to mess with seasonable blend temperatures with highs
mostly in the 80s.

.AVIATION /Discussion for the 120300Z KIND TAF Update/...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Tue Jul 11 2017

Minor tweaks made to KIND TAF to better match current conditions.
No other changes are needed at this time.

Previous aviation discussion follows...VFR through the period.

MCS has moved out and latest short term models indicate quiet
weather overnight and Wednesday as high pressure along the southeast
U.S. coast and low pressure moving from the central plains to upper
midwest keeps us under a Southwest flow.

Could be some marginal low level wind shear at KLAF late tonight as
pressure gradient a little stronger there.

Added a little diurnal CU at TAF sites Wednesday.

Winds will be southwest 5 to 8 knots overnight and around 12 knots
Wednesday.

This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Outlook: Residual flooding will continue from earlier storms.
Isolated thunderstorms (north).

Hazards: Flash Flooding, gusty winds, frequent lightning, heavy
rain.

Timing: This evening and into tonight.

Discussion: A frontal boundary, along with several upper level
weather disturbances could generate additional isolated
thunderstorms into tonight across the northern counties. Some storms
may produce heavy rain which could result in further flooding.
Lightning is a threat from any storm.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Outlook: Periodic threats for strong to severe thunderstorms will
exist through Friday and again Sunday/Sunday night. Damaging winds
and large hail will be the main severe threats. Dangerous cloud to
ground lightning and heavy rainfall are threats with any
thunderstorm.

Thunderstorms over the next few days will have the potential to
bring several inches of rain to parts of central Indiana. With many
locations already having saturated ground and elevated water levels,
any additional rain would bring a return of flooding and exacerbate
existing flooding.

In addition to the storms...dewpoints will surge into the middle 70s
through Thursday...creating oppressive conditions as high
temperatures warm into the upper 80s and lower 90s in some locations.
This will create max heat indices in the middle 90s to near 100.

Discussion: Daily chances for storms will continue through Friday as
a northwest flow aloft enables several upper level disturbances to
track across the region and interact with a frontal boundary.
Another front will bring additional chances for showers and
thunderstorms on Sunday and Sunday night.
