AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS 942 AM CDT MON APR 11 2016 .UPDATE...LATEST SATELLITE AND UPPER AIR ANALYSIS SHOWED A SPLIT FLOW PATTERN WITH A BROAD UPPER TROUGH EXTENDING FROM THE SOUTHWEST US TO THE SOUTHERN PLANS. A SERIES OF SHORT WAVES WAS MOVING THROUGH THE SOUTHERN STREAM. MID TO UPPER DIVERGENCE FROM THE ACTIVE SUBSTROPICAL JET WAS COMING OUT OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TO THE LOWER MISS VALLEY. A STRONG MID LEVEL SHORT WAVE WAS PUSHING TOWARD THE REGION FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. WE WERE GETTING PRETTY GOOD RETURN FLOW OF 35 TO 40 KNOTS OVER THE REGION.
