.Synopsis...
Rainfall of 1 to 1.5 inches fell along western portions of the
Sangamon River basin Wednesday and Wednesday night. This has resulted
in significant rises on lower reaches of the river, which is also
being affected by backwater from the major flooding on the Illinois
River. Minor flooding is expected to develop along the lower
Sangamon River this afternoon and evening as a result.
The following forecasts are based on observed precipitation, soil
moisture conditions, and forecast precipitation.

.Flooding continues on both ends of the Sangamon River.
On the east end, a slow rise will continue at Monticello through
tonight before cresting, and the river will remain above flood stage
through the weekend.
On the west end, rises will continue through tonight at Oakford
and Chandlerville. The flooding at Oakford is expected to subside
on Sunday, but backwater effects from the Illinois River will keep
Chandlerville above flood stage through Monday.
