SUMMARY...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ALONG
HIGHER TERRAIN AND MOVE N/NEWD THIS AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST STORMS
WILL BE CAPABLE OF LARGE HAIL AND LOCALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. A WW
MAY BE NEEDED WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS.
DISCUSSION...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING EARLY THIS
AFTERNOON AS THE BOUNDARY LAYER CONTINUED TO DESTABILIZE IN
MOISTENING ELY UPSLOPE FLOW. TEMPERATURES HAVE MAINLY WARMED INTO
THE UPPER 60S TO NEAR 70 WITH DEWPOINTS NEAR 60 IN THE TEXAS BIG
BEND REGION TO THE 40S ACROSS S-CNTRL NM. THIS HAS RESULTED IN
MODEST SBCAPE VALUES APPROACHING 1000 J/KG AND VALUES MAY CONTINUE
TO INCREASE WITH CONTINUED DAYTIME HEATING AND SLIGHTLY INCREASING
DEWPOINTS. STEEP LAPSE RATES AND FAVORABLE DEEP LAYER SHEAR WILL
SUPPORT SOME SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF LARGE HAIL AND LOCALLY DAMAGING
WINDS. THE AIR MASS ACROSS SERN NM INTO THE TRANSPECOS REGION OF TX
IS LESS CONDUCIVE TO SEVERE WEATHER AND WILL LIKELY LIMIT THE EWD
EXTENT OF SEVERE POTENTIAL/THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE. CONVECTIVE TRENDS
