NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

AREAS AFFECTED...ECNTRL SD INTO SWRN MN AND NWRN IA

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL

VALID 060104Z - 060230Z

RADAR LOOPS SHOW THAT A MCV IS EVOLVING OVER SCNTRL SD AND WILL
TRANSLATE INTO ECNTRL/SERN SD IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. IT IS
UNCERTAIN HOW THIS FEATURE WILL AFFECT DOWNSTREAM CONVECTIVE
POTENTIAL. PLUSES FOR POSSIBLE SEVERE INCLUDE THE FACT THAT AIR
MASS DOWNSTREAM EXPERIENCED MORE SUNSHINE TODAY...RESULTING IN AN
INSTABILITY AXIS POINTING NWD ACROSS ERN SD AND SWRN MN. UPSTREAM
PROFILERS ALSO SHOW FAIRLY MODEST MIDLEVEL FLOW REGIME ASSOCIATED
WITH SYNOPTIC SCALE MIDLEVEL IMPULSE MIGRATING THROUGH THE NEB/SD
REGION. THIS IS AUGMENTING DEEP LAYER SHEAR SUFFICIENT FOR
SUPERCELLS. IF TSTMS APPEAR TO BE INTENSIFYING ACROSS ECNTRL/SERN
SD IN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO...A NEW WW WILL PROBABLY BE NEEDED
DOWNSTREAM OF WS 647 AND NORTH OF WT 651.
