THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  EDGECOMBE COUNTY IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA

* UNTIL 930 PM EDT

* AT 725 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY
  HEAVY RAIN OVER EDGECOMBE COUNTY.

* SLOW MOVING SHOWER ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL OVER EDGECOMBE
  COUNTY. RADAR ESTIMATES THAT UP TO TWO AND HALF INCHES OF RAIN HAVE
  FALLEN IN AN AREA JUST SOUTHWEST OF TARBORO IN THE LAST HOUR. AS
  THE SOIL IS ALREADY SATURATED FROM RAINS EARLIER IN THE WEEK... THE
  ADDITIONAL RAIN IS LIKELY TO RUN OFF QUICKLY... PRODUCING FLOODING
  IN LOW LYING AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS... AND LEADING TO RAPID RISES
  IN CREEKS AND STREAMS.

NEVER DRIVE THROUGH AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD. A FOOT OF 
WATER CAN SWEEP MOST VEHICLES AWAY... INCLUDING SPORT UTILITY 
VEHICLES.
