THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CUMBERLAND COUNTY IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA

* UNTIL 400 AM EDT

* AT 127 AM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER THE WARNED 
  AREA.

* SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL PASS REPEATEDLY OVER CUMBERLAND COUNTY  
  OVERNIGHT. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES CAN
  BE EXPECTED THROUGH 400 AM. THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL FALL OVER THE
  SOUTHERN AND EASTERN PORTION OF THE COUNTY... INCLUDING THE 
  CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE. THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY LEAD
  TO RAPID RISES IN CREEKS... INCLUDING ROCKFISH CREEK AND CEDAR 
  CREEK. EXTENSIVE FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AND URBAN AREAS CAN
  ALSO BE EXPECTED.

NEVER DRIVE THROUGH AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD. A FOOT OF 
WATER CAN CARRY AWAY MOST VEHICLES... INCLUDING SPORT UTILITY 
VEHICLES. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND LAW ENFORCEMENT BARRICADES... AS THE 
ROAD AHEAD IS LIKELY TO BE IMPASSABLE OR WASHED AWAY. PEOPLE IN 
CUMBERLAND COUNTY WHO LIVE NEAR A CREEK OR AN AREA THAT TYPICALLY 
FLOODS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND 
PROPERTY.
