000 WGUS54 KEWX 090451 FFWSAT TXC187-090645- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 1151 PM CDT TUE OCT 8 2002 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES... GUADALUPE * UNTIL 145 AM CDT * AT 1151 PM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS...WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH ACROSS ALL OF GUADALUPE COUNTY. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED UP TO 5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER PARTS OF GUADALUPE COUNTY THIS EVENING. THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT GUADALUPE COUNTY THROUGH AT LEAST 1230 PM BEFORE THE RAINS DIMINISH FROM SOUTH TO NORTH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE WARNED AREA. THESE HEAVY RAINS WILL LIKELY AGGRAVATE THE FLOODING ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS. GERONIMO CREEK AND ITS TRIBUTARIES WILL LIKELY BE FLOODED FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 2 HOURS. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
