000 WGUS54 KEWX 090232 FFWSAT TXC055-090630- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 932 PM CDT TUE OCT 8 2002 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES... CALDWELL * UNTIL 130 AM CDT * AT 932 PM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER CALDWELL COUNTY...OR ABOUT 8 MILES SOUTHEAST OF LOCKHART... MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH. NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING SOUTHWEST TO NEAR SEGUIN AND PLEASANTON WILL MOVE SLOWLY NORTHEAST AND INTO CALDWELL COUNTY THROUGH 11 PM. HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE WARNED AREA. DOPPLER RADAR HAS ALREADY ESTIMATED UP TO TWO INCHES OVER WESTERN CALDWELL COUNTY IN THE PAST 3 HOURS. THESE ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE FLOODING OF STREAMS...POOR DRAINAGE AREAS...AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS OF SECONDARY ROADWAYS. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
