TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

   CENTRAL AND EASTERN IOWA                               

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 330 PM UNTIL 900
PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 65 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST
OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF MASON CITY IOWA TO 30
MILES EAST OF LAMONI IOWA.

BEEN DESTABILIZING AHEAD OF THE FRONT OVER THE LAST SEVERAL HOURS
WITH MLCAPE NOW ABOVE 2000 J/KG OVER SOUTH CENTRAL IA.  SURFACE
WINDS HAVE ALSO BACKED RESULTING IN INCREASED LOW LEVEL
SHEAR/HELICITY SUGGESTING THREAT FOR SUPERCELLS AND POSSIBLE
TORNADOES.
