SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

   SOUTHERN KANSAS                             
   NORTHERN OKLAHOMA                           

EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 300 PM UNTIL
900 PM CST.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 65 STATUTE MILES
EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF ENID
OKLAHOMA TO 35 MILES NORTHEAST OF WICHITA KANSAS.

DISCUSSION...THUNDERSTORMS ARE BEGINNING TO INTENSIFY ALONG W EDGE
OF MOIST AXIS FROM S CNTRL KANSAS INTO NWRN OK.  THIS ACTIVITY IS
LIKELY TO CONTINUE INCREASING WITH THE RISK OF LARGE HAIL AND
POSSIBLY DAMAGING WINDS.  CELLS WILL MOVE EWD INTO MOIST AXIS AND
MAY DEVELOP SWD WITH TIME.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
TO 2 INCHES.  EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
KNOTS.  A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450.  MEAN STORM
MOTION VECTOR 26025.
