AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND TX 130 PM CDT (1230 PM MDT) FRI MAY 21 1999 SPC HAS SLIGHT RISK FOR NORTHERN PERMIAN BASIN/SOUTHEAST NM AS FRONTAL BOUNDARY COULD BECOME THE FOCUS FOR SOME AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. FRONT CURRENTLY RUNNING FROM NEAR KSPS... TO NORTH OF KMAF AND KINK. HOWEVER... KMAF SITTING ON A 0.21 INCH PRECIP TOTAL SINCE APRIL 1... SO IT IS HARD TO GET TOO EXCITED ABOUT RAIN. WILL PROBABLY INCLUDE SOME LOW POPS FOR THE NORTH. UPPER RIDGE STAYS OVER THE AREA THROUGH 48 HRS WITH CUT OFF LOW SPINNING OVER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. DO NOT SEE MUCH CHANCE OF RAIN UNTIL THE LOW COMES EASTWARD... MRF BRINGS IN INTO THE AREA LATE TUESDAY. PLENTY OF MOISTURE TO WORK WITH... BUT HAVE TO OVERCOME THE CAP.
