THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR
  MONTGOMERY COUNTY

* UNTIL 500 AM EST

* AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE MOUNT GILEAD AND TROY.

* AT 150 AM...WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF HEAVY RAIN
MOVING INTO MONTGOMERY COUNTY FROM THE SOUTH.  RAINFALL OF THREE
INCHES OR MORE HAS ALREADY OCCURRED OVER A LARGE PORTION OF THE
COUNTY THE PAST 24 HOURS.  CREEKS AND STREAMS ARE RUNNING FULL AND
SOME ROADWAYS HAVE BEEN CLOSED.

RAINFALL RATES OF ONE-HALF TO THREE-QUARTERS OF AN INCH AN HOUR ARE
EXPECTED THE NEXT TWO OR THREE HOURS...AND THIS IS LIKELY TO CAUSE
WIDESPREAD FLASH FLOODING.  ROADWAYS ARE LIKELY TO BE INUNDATED AND
SOME HOMES OR BUSINESSES MAY BE THREATENED BY FLOOD WATERS.

NEVER DRIVE INTO A FLOODED STRETCH OF ROAD.  THE DEPTH OF
WATER MAY BE ENOUGH TO FLOAT YOUR VEHICLE.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING.
