THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOBILE AL HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1230 PM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA

   ...ESCAMBIA

AT 1037 AM CST...U.S. HIGHWAY 31 BETWEEN ATMORE AND FLOMATON AND ALSO
ON U.S. HIGHWAY 41 INSIDE AND NORTH OF BREWTON ARE BOTH CLOSED DUE TO
HIGH WATER. PONDING AND RUNOFF OF RAINFALL THAT HAS FALLEN ACROSS THE
AREA WILL SLOW TO DRAIN OFF...CAUSING MANY STREAMS TO REMAIN OUT OF
THEIR BANKS.  ROADS THAT ARE FLOODED WILL SLOWLY RECEDE DURING THE
REMAINDER OF THE MORNING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS THROUGH 1 PM
WILL RANGE FROM A QUARTER TO A HALF INCH.

MOTORISTS ARE URGED NOT TO DRIVE INTO OR THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS
WHERE THE DEPTH OF THE WATER IS UNKNOWN.

MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTFEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES... DIPS... OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM... EVEN A SMALL
ONE... ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. DO
NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES.
